Which watch to get?

nobody needs a watch winder - they are daft. if you have autos you don't use all the time you are much better letting them run down and then wind when you use them.

I disagree, I really can't be done with having to reset date and time on a watch because I have let it run down

Fair enough. I appreciate what they do, my reason for not liking them is the additional wear they put on a watch, particulary the rotor. I don't wear any of my watches enought to keep them wound all the time but I'm happy enough to give them a twirl and set them when I do. For me a winder would just increase wear on watches that aren't used often and in theory reduce service intervals.

by not using a winder it lets the lubricants dry up, to me this is less desirable than extra wear

Certainly what I've read on the subject suggests that with today's lubricants that is no longer the case but people do still say it (i've read a few pro and con threads in watch forums in the past and certainly for me the weight of evidence seems to point to con). Each to their own though. If I had a perpetual calendar that would certainly go on a winder!:)

I guess if you have one or two watches it makes no difference because they would be in constant use if you have loads then it adds to wear.

I love my Citizen-Mens-Eco-Drive-Perpetual-Calendar-Chronograph in Titanium. Replaced the tan leather strap with a black velcro one. Perfect watch for me.

I only have 2 auto watches at the moment :(

You sold a couple?

How do these watches rate against the likes of Omega and Oris ?

They aren't supposed to. The whole ethos of the CW brand is that he was sick of seeing stuff like the basic TAG Heures etc being sold for a premium when basically using the same movement with a different case can amount to a lot less by the time you remove the marketing budget.

In my view the value per pound spent is far better than most big brands. Value per pound I would say they are in line with my JLC, but clearly that is of a hugely better quality, in-house movement, amazing dial, case finish, testing etc.but it costs 15 times as much so it should be better. At the other end of the spectrum, value per pound they are imeasureably better value than my tag with quality I would say broadly in line with it. THe movement in my tag is a 2824 just as in most cw autos and in many of the wathces I put together. Good movement but to see it in watches costing high hundreds and 1000s is a bit of a joke.
