Manhunt in Northumbria on BBC

Is that why they shot an innocent Brazilian, because of their high quality of training?
While the biggest failure the SAS had during the Iranian Embassy incident was their failure to kill one of the terrorists but instead capturing him

There were many failures during the Embassy Seige, but comparing this situation to that one is pointless - they are completely different.

The SAS primarily act as an agressive force not a police force. They do a small amount of snatch raids but they can take months waiting for the intelligence to come in. If it was a simple case of "he's in Northumberland go and get him lads" surely they would have applied the same mystical abilities to the bora bora mountains...

JCdM was shot by mistake - it happens. Tragic though it is mistakes do happen. All training does is reduce the likelihood, it does not prevent them from happening.

From what I recall of the testimonials, the officers did not shoot him by mistake per se, the controllers provided the officers with the wrong information.

This guy is making the police look like idiots.

Its like a real life First Blood film. Man feels he has been harshly treated by the police and wants revenge.

Police are panicing. Just need this guy to sew up his arm in a cave. :D

he's not really

he's not ray mears, hes a bouncer on drugs who went camping every now and then

blaming the police for your own failure in life is easy..they didnt force him to assualt people, or indeed shoot people..having read some of his 49 page rant its clear he has just gone mental and blames everybody else for his poor choices in life

he's in an area that has a low population, not many roads and a million places to hide..the odds are in his favour, but the longer he is out in the open the worse he is going to get, lack of sleep, lack of food, sleeping rough will take it toll eventually, in theory the police could just wait him out as he says he isnt a risk to the public..he will make a mistake at some point or just get fed up hiding

Firstly it's Tora Bora, secondly the Safed Koh is a huge land area, more hostile, than where this guy is hiding

you seriously think the army or SAS have never shot anyone who didnt need shooting ? because they where worried that there life was in danger ?

Dear god, that facebook page makes me feel a bit murderous myself. Loving all the little 17 year olds being all '**** da pleece' - RAAAAAGE ON!

thr great irony being in his 49 page rant he declares a murderous hatred of these very same ******..even more ironic given that he looks like the king of charvas

The Hereford Gun Club are more suited to hunt and capture, especially in a wilderness scenario, than the police force who tend to be more suited to urban investigations.

I see your point but I can't see why the SAS would be needed as AFOs are not trained in urban situations only.

Equally the boys from Hereford are unlikely to shoot a random Brazilian

Not that old chestnut. If you are trolling then you fail. If you are using that as justification for highly specialised military involvement then as above I can't see why they would be required.

The area they believe Moat to be in is not easily contained. It is a large area of rural Northumberland with valleys, disused mines, hills and difficult terrain with countless boltholes.

The police can handle it but it will take time, especially with a civilian population whose safety is paramount.

Ahh, so 7 bullets at point blank range into an innocent mans head is what the police consider a tragic mistake now adays? I guess thats why they whitewashed the whole investigation and fined the police on an hse technicality! Because apparently its against HSE regulations to execute innocent people.... go figure...

The SAS can and do get involved with domestic law enforcement, for example they ended a prison siege in Scotland without anyone being killed.

I heard ( and only a story I have to say ) was that the prisoners were, shall we say, slapped around a bit buy our friends from Hereford who ended the hostage situation.
