Manhunt in Northumbria on BBC

Won't happen mate.

The argument will rear its head again but nothing will come of it.

well personally i wouldnt want them armed....would just mean more accidents/unfortunate incidents at the cost of public lives. whilst the majority of police officers maybe very professional and have a cool head there will always be some idiots in there.
you only have to look at the way some use the terrorism act against photographers.

Sums it up:-

For almost seven days now Raoul Moat has evaded police. With all of the hi tech equipment and air support Northumbria police have not had a single sighting of the man. On a couple of occasions they have come across camp sites were Moat has stayed but nothing of the man himself has been seen. This is starting to cause speculation that Moat is being helped by the public. Facebook pages and sites have sprung up supporting him.

This follows the expenses scandal in the UK when most of the members of the government were caught with their hands in the till, The UK population now see a police force dressed like storm troopers and armed better than the military fighting in Afghanistan as more of a tool of the state than the British bobby. This has obviously occurred to the police who are beginning to look more keystone every day that Moat is being helped as they have now issued a warning he intends to harm the public, but no evidence for this has been put forward by them.Elsewhere it's being reported that Moats mother wants him dead.

Yeah, people everywhere are cheering for a bloke who's shot three unarmed people, all because some MPs fiddled their expenses.

What an utter load of crap. Do people like you actually spend timing reading blogs like that?

Next that blog is going to link him to the fake moon landings. Can someone with a tin foil hat please explain the link between MPs expenses and Moat?

I can't see the connection between politicians' expenses and a roid-raging cop-killer.

You should look at the bigger picture. Take the old hag who's the head of Northumbria police unable to direct 1000+ heavily armed officers, better equiped than our soldiers who are fighting in afghanistan, to catch one guy with two shotguns and a few rounds of ammo. This is what happens when you have social workers masquarading as police chiefs to make sure equal oppurtunites and diversty laws are being enforced rather than catching criminals.

And where are all these armed police when some old grannys being robbed by a street junkie, 20+ chavs are roaming the streets at night terrosing local communites up and down the country or politicans blatently stealing our money? Probably beating up peaceful protesters outside parliament and arresting them under anti-terroism laws.

1000? Not seen that number before? Are there really 1000 armed officers in Northumbria? And how are they better armed? So far I've not seen them call in air support, or tanks, or a GPMG or mortar or artillery or anything. In fact, they just seem to have sub machine guns and a hand full of sniper rifles?

Again, the connection to expenses scandal, you missed that part...

Never let the truth get in the way of a good rant ;)

Yes possibly even more, currently 25% of the armed police in England are now in Northumbria. They've also called 25 shogun vehicles from Northern Islans. SAS and SOCA are being consulted for 'additional advice'.

Sky have just interviewed a Rothbury farmer who found someone had broken into his holiday cottage. He phoned this into the police yesterday and they came out to see if it was moaty today. So what are all those police upto if they can’t chase up a lead like this within 24 hours?

Hundreds of the police are each armed (cribbed from the Daily Mail) with a Heckler and Koch G36 assault rifle that can fire 25 rounds, and a Glock 17 SLP 9mm pistol, which carries 17 rounds.

They also had a Heckler and Koch L104A1 37mm single-shot launcher which fires rubber baton rounds, a Taser X26 that is capable of firing 50,000 volts up to 21 feet and AEP (Attenuating Energy Projectile) baton rounds which can be fired 100 yards.

They wore helmets capable of withstanding 9mm shotgun, rifle and handgun ammunition, body armour, shields and goggles.

They also carried Airwave radios fitted with an earpiece, a torch, handcuffs and extra rounds for the G36 rifle.

I mean come on, I remember my Grandad telling me it took 8 of them to take out a German Machine Gun Post back in WW2.
