Manhunt in Northumbria on BBC

To be fair on him, there were plenty of heroics in WW2. It wasn't uncommon for small groups of soldiers to face insurmountable odds and survive.

Oh aye, but machine gun emplacements didn't run away and hide in the wilderness either!

Exactly - two or three policemen could possibly take out RM once they know where he is.

Trained snipers go up against thousands and very often escape. RM is not a trained sniper by any measure, however it is far easier for one to hide than for many to.

True. And my grandad only ever spoke to me once in his whole life about WW2 and he was by no means glorifying it and trying to impress his little grandson (i.e me) with macho war stories.

Very few people who survived WW2 happily spoke about their experiences, most remain harrowed by it until they die.

The police should just be thankful its Raoul Moat and not platinum87 they are hunting.

Thousands would have been slaughtered by now if he went (further) off the rails surely :p

Many more would have been yes, but all of them would have been heart attacks/ complete accidents (or would they)

You should look at the bigger picture. Take the chief constable Northumbria police unable to direct 1000+ heavily armed officers, better equiped than our soldiers who are fighting in afghanistan, to catch one guy with two shotguns and a few rounds of ammo.

I must have missed the SKY footage which showed police officers armed with fully automatic weaponry, RPGs, hand grenades, bayonets, artillery and capacity for aerial bombardment.

Better armed that troops ? Get a grip magick.

Probably beating up peaceful protesters outside parliament and arresting them under anti-terroism laws.

Or perhaps pointing and laughing at paranoid conspiracy theorists who think a pigeon crapping on their shoulder is under the direct orders of the New World Order.

I have to respect your right to post magick but dry some of your posts out and you could fertilise the garden.

Anyone watching the Q&A session right now?

Q: Six days on what are you going to try next.

A: Good question. We are going to bring in reinforcements from every force in the country. The officers will stand at every street corner and tree in Northumberland. Moat will have nowhere to go and we'll nab him by the end of the week.

Seriously....
Has it come to their attention that he could be no way near Northumberland

That's what a person in trouble would do? Run away?

Of course it would have but unless they have evidence of that what do you propose they do, stick a pin in a map?
