Manhunt in Northumbria on BBC

I don't doubt that HK make a better firearm that Enfield MR, my point was from a police / military comparison.

If you joined the military 20 years or so ago, you will know of the horrendous teething problems the SA80 had.

The fact that HK sorted the problems out speaks volumes.

I heard the L85 is now one of the best assault rifles out there. True dat?

*raises hand in the air* i was amongst the very first in the UK to test that 8lb 6oz piece of trash. And with a back-brass that didn't work so well being a left-hander in the marines was no fun i can tell ya.

As regards the Browing 9mm, do they still use it? A thick wet coat at 50yds would stop a round from that pea-shooter.

Sounds like the net may be closing in, they have found mobiles that he used whilst on the run.

Anyone else reckon that these could have been left deliberately as distractions?

To have evaded Police capture with trained dog teams, IR cameras on helicopters and apparently an RAF Tornado joining the search last night, the guy clearly isnt a numpty - even if he is a few bars short of a symphony!

What is more likely:

a) He's hiding out in the wilderness, covered in mud arnie style to avoid the IR cameras
b) He's being sheltered by friends or family

I mean, seriously, everyone has had their fun in the sun, they've got their toys out, can you please stop playing and go kick some doors in.

Northumbria police have put a £10,000 price tag on Raoul Moat's head. If he isn't caught by next Tuesday it goes up to £20,000, it will be a Raoul over.

damn, been posted already. Thought it was new. NVM!

It would not suprise me if he is not even there and friends have left stuff for the cops to find to make them think he is.

And it looks like it is working.

I prefer the mental image that this conjurs up. (Watching Predator on Film4 last night didn't help)

Given that he's probably taken that film as a training manual, he's probably underwater breathing through a straw fashioned from goat's spleen. Or something.

If they have him in their sights and he has a gun to his head, even in his possession surely they would shoot him on sight.

We all know how Sky News love to blow things out of proportion, but they seem quite certain.

We'll see in the coming minutes I guess anyway!
