Not sure if this has been mentioned, but Radio 5 Live, 705 on Freeview, are talking to some residents of Rothbury who live about 100 yards away from where this is all happening at the moment. They can see everything!

If you taser him, an involuntary spasm could kill him while there is no immediate threat to life of police officers at the scene.

That involunatry spasm could be a discharge at police officers as well.

Thankfully our police and legal system is betetr than that, while there is little risk to anyone, there is no need to show force and negotiations can carry on.

why do people want to shoot someone or tazer someone, who is pinned down and no threat apart to himself, but less of a threat than shooting or tazering someone.,
