I was reversing out of someone's driveway and backed into someone's parked car, damaging their passenger door quite badly. This was just 4 weeks ago. Didn't know whose car it was and it was bucketing down with rain so i waited in the car for a few minutes before taking down the car's license plate and driving a short distance home. Once home, i reported what i had done to the local police over the phone and they asked me to pop down to my local station and fill out an accident self reporting form which i did immediately.
I received a letter from the police a few days ago stating that they (the police) weren't taking any action against me and that they had made the registered keeper of that car aware that i had reported it to the police.
Surely i would have heard something about this by now from the other party or their insurer, assuming that they are insured, or do these things sometimes take a little longer?
