How do I pull apk files off my non rooted phone? Is it possible.

Whilst the x10 was good, for about a net cost of £20 I can now switch to the Galaxy S. However, i want to keep some apps which have been pulled from the market.

You moving to Galaxy S then? How did you manage that for £20 :p

You can get the Galaxy S free on contract for £20 a month for 18 months. At 9 months you can downgrade to a £15 tariff. Also you get £35 topcashback which has tracked for me and should be payable in a couple of months. So that's £280 cost.

I can sell the Xperia X10 from £200-£250, and I think I can sell the contract itself for a token amount to my brother, leaving me with a small net loss at worst. I also get upfront cash whilst paying the contract gradually over 18 months.

Cool, thats not bad then. Who is that deal with? :D

What's has made you choose the Galaxy S over the Desire? and also move away from the X10?

The one that is top here (£20 a month for 18 months). Obviously use quidco/topcashback.

Moved away from the X10 because of gpu and sooner froyo update (didn't particularly care about lack of eclair on X10). Desire has a smaller screen than the X10 and so was a no go. The Desire has a worse screen (amoled vs samoled) than the Galaxy S and has worse multitouch implementation (potentially good for games). Galaxy S is also only 9.9mm thick (I like thin phones).

Touchscreen keyboard will take some getting used to again.

Any recommendations on 3rd party keyboards? I'm finding keys a lil small :p

Really interested in getting an X10, what are the cheapest deals around at the moment? Best i've found is off Mobiles.co.uk Dolphin 25 which is 500mb data, 300 minutes and unlimited texts for £18.75 a month on average after redemptions. Doubt anybody can beat that but i thought i'd ask :D

Also, roughly how much updating will i need to do with various packs and the like before i'm up to scratch. Obviously i'll be trawling through the essential apps thread as this will be my first Android phone :)

keyboard

im using swype, and its a blast, easy to use and superfast, if you get it spend some time adding your own words into the user dictionary as it wont recognise slang or abreviations, anyway thats my recommendation..............htc.ime is a good one esp for the verbal texting ability.........ultimately its down to you dude......;)

Well...

I reset my phone, and started using the button up top to send it in to sleep mode straight away...

I've used it for around 30 mins of mp3, some gaming, few phone calls, web use and texts... After 25 hours i had 45% charge remaining!

Charged to 100% and its been on 100% for 1hour 30 mins so far.

:D

just a little update on my battery performance, phone has been on for 32 hours (forgot to turn it off last night) with some calls, some texting, a bit of facebucket chit chat, and playing settlers and im showing 66% left, unrooted RB020 uk generic but using ATK free (without autokill enabled) memory Task Cleaner free (without autokill enabled) and Startup Auditor free (to deal with moxier, playnow and timescape) and 2g/3g widget, and im not even sure that it was at 100% when i first looked at my battery..............................anyhow....... ......................32 hours medium usage and showing 66%...........who needs root;):p

Yea, 4 hours now with light use and its on 97%.

Only thing that is different from before is that i dont have the alarm switched on. I wouldnt think that would drain the battery though, unless it prevents it from sleeping? Ill find out later.

trox

are you using any Task Killers or auditors? thats good performance..............thinking of ditching mine to see what happens, whats your firmware rb020?
