Andy, do you rate the 020 UK Generic firmware over the rooted 023 version??

Do you find the incall volume on the 020 is slightly inferior to the 023 or is it just my ears :p

I personally don't rate any of the rooted versions because the battery life is shocking because the phone doesn't sleep correctly. :p

If you update a UK Generic Handset via SEUS its battery life seems much better then that of ones done OTA. Also if you plug a Generic UK handset that's been updated OTA into SEUS, it says there is a update and after that that the battery life seems much better odd eh?

I am personally sticking with the Generic Nordic Firmware, which is R2BA023:D

are you using any Task Killers or auditors? thats good performance..............thinking of ditching mine to see what happens, whats your firmware rb020?
;)

I had a startup auditor and juice plotter installed before i done a reset. Both of which are not installed now and yea I'm on UK rb020 software.

Update---

Phone was on Flight mode during the night for 6 hours, alarm was running and it seems fine still... So far some light usage, some BT file transfers, texts etc and im on 83% charge (18hours unplugged).

Before i done a reset i did have a lot of applications, so im guessing one that i didnt need was draining the battery in the background.

If you are running Generic UK Firmware and you do a OTA update, I have noticed you battery life isn't too good. However, if you update the handset via SUES to R2BA020 its much better

I think I may give the Nordic firmware a try then, as battery life is the most important to me...am currently on rooted 023.

Any guidence on how I can flash to the Nordic would be very much appreciated. Feel free to PM me if you don't want to clog up this thread :D

Here are my findings from OTA update VS SEUS update

Generic UK R1BA016 > OTA R2BA020 - Phone doesn't return to idle state correctly

Generic UK R1BA016 > OTA "Root" R2BA020 - Phone doesn't return to idle state correctly

Generic UK R1BA016 > OTA "Root"R2BA023 - Phone doesn't return to idle state correctly

All the above, I have found the phone not to sleep correctly and battery life because of this suffers.

Generic UK R1BA016 > SEUS R2BA020 - Phone sleeps correctly

Generic NCB R1FB001 > SEUS R2BA023 - Phone sleeps correctly

The updates by SEUS, seem to be a massive improvement over the OTA updates they are also much larger in size. This would suggest that a number of files are update unlike the OTA update.

Using the SEUS update I am able to get around 1 / 2 days from my phone now. However, using the OTA update I was lucky to get around 12/13 hours from my battery.

I hope you find this interesting.

If you said this last week i would agree as i done an OTA update from 016 to 020 but since ive reset my phone and reinstalled all my apps and widgets its been sleeping correctly.

Massive difference from getting 2-3 hours use per 10% drain, see above :)

Unsure if its due to reseting or a dodgy application but hopefully it stays this way lol

I'm on R1FA016 atm and can't update as it says I have latest version, which one gives the better battery life out of ones you have tried?

Also how would I go about updating?

I know the battery life is supposed to improve after a few cycles but anything else that would help will be much appreciated, mine was wanting a recharge after 16hrs of no use (bar facebook updateing every 3 hrs).

Coming from my E71 which requires a weekly charge it seems very short :p
