I am really enjoying Titan Quest

I got this I think through the THQ pack on Steam ages ago but never played it, think I'll give it a go as I love Diablo games. Question though, I have TQ and TQ: Immortal Throne... do I need to install both, or just Immortal Throne? (I'm assuming it's some kind of game + extras, rather than just the standard game).

Both. It's just an expansion adding a new act, items, features and monsters.

Then make sure you play the campaign through the expansion, as it starts you out in the same story with the added areas at the end I believe.

Indeed it does.
You have to run TQ once so that it picks up IM, but after that just start your character on IM.

Really enjoying this game right now. I know there are many problems with it and it has quite simple game mechanics but I just love it! I am getting a bit annoyed though as I have filled up every available storage space with good items that I think I will use but won't and I don't want to get rid of any!

Anyway it's a really great game, albeit a bit repetitive, and it's even better when you play co op with a friend.

What you think about it though? Do you find it unplayable because of the bugs? Or is it just not your cup of tea?

hELLO.. I just heard that game with my officemate and he says that it was an enjoying game to play with but there were few bugs. I'm little bit curious what are those bugs you and my officemate were referring for?

Any way I can open Epic and Legendary difficulty without completing the game in normal mode first? Would kinda like a challenge, so was hoping to play on Epic (don't want to start on Normal only to find it's /faceroll material).

[Edit]: Ah, nevermind, it seems that Epic and Legendarya re continuations of the game when you have completed it at the end and follow each other on - kinda like Borderlands or something :)

Also that female characters legs are just the beefiest female legs I've ever seen :p

I'm almost certain you can't, you would NOT survive if you could access them.

You start Normal at Level 1, you're meant to start Epic at 35~, then Legendary 50~ (rough level estimations).

It's not a difficulty level like most other games in that you can choose how hard you want it.
Once you complete one difficulty, you replay the game on the higher level with that character, with harder mobs, bigger bosses (extra ones too in certain dungeons) and Epicer loots.

Depending on your class and your experience with building it, you may find Normal sufficiently challenging anyway. :p ;)

Edit: I now see your edit. :D

got it to it but then after a couple of days it just started crashing after 5-6 mins. never went back to it but bought it and the expansion from the steam sale that time.

D2 still way better :)

Ah, aye :) Thanks for the explanation though matey... I did find it a bit odd that I couldn't get the harder difficulty. To be honest I'm kind of glad, gives me more playablility!

Heh aye :/ I ran up to some fields to kill some Satyr's and and there was boars there, killed about 3 then had to go buy health potions :P

Played this game for about an half an hour and man this game is really awesome, just what I wanted. I really suck at clicking things when I'm moving and the target is moving at the same time, I always end up running towards them cause I misclicked (which is nasty when I'm using a bow) and Torchlight was really bad for that due to small hit boxes, but this game seemed way way way more forgiving.

Now to go read about Hunter builds!

Oooh one of my builds is a Hunter/Rogue (Brigand). The poison from the Rogue tree makes the bow incredible, and the combination of LethalStrike/Study Prey = boss killer.

Below is a link to my Brigand build, currently at lvl42 and a good way through filling up the skills.

If you didn't already know, holding shift will keep your char on that spot, so you can click about on enemies without fear of running into a group, mucho handy for bowmen/ladies.

Aside from the characters I play with I also have a number of "storage" characters. Off the top of my head they are:

- Normal Ingredients/Formulae/Artefacts
- Normal Non-Set Armour/Shields
- Normal Set Armour
- Normal Weapons (swords/axes)
- Normal Bows/Spears
- Epic Ingredients/Formulae/Artefacts
- Epic Set Armour
- Epic Weapons (all weapons)
- Legendary (for all Legendary items, have starting amassing a reasonable number of decent swords now :D)
- and last but not least - Jewels (for all level jewellery).

Unfortunately they're all becoming a bit full now. :/ Will probably reassign some of them when I get onto Legendary difficulty and the purples really start coming in.

Right, just creating a batch of Artefacts on another character (one of the richer ones) then back to my dual-wielding Conqueror. :D

I loved Diablo II as much as the next guy, but playing TQ through on all 3 difficulties with two of your mates on teamspeak3 really is just as good - if not better ^^

Thanks for that! How would you suggest distributing attributes points? I've read that you can "respec" your build to something else, but you attributes points are final so kinda don't want to mess them up. From reading up on it, it seems I need a good balance of dexterity to get access to good bows, but also high strength and average Intelligence (something like a 2:3:1 ratio?).

That'll come in very handy, thanks :)

For my Brigand I've not put ANY points into Intelligence. Just not needed. Granted Marksmanship uses some energy (Envenom uses 1/s but you have that much regen anyway so it's not an issue), but I just use that conservatively or drink potions as needed. By the time it's required for full time use, I expect to have enough energy regen from items.

At level 42 my Strength:dex is 242:174 (combination of attribute points and those given from the Hunter/Brigand Mastery column) however my items boost these up to 364 and 507 respectively.

Probably a 1:2 ratio for a Brigand, another guide I have read suggests going to a 1:3 ratio for a Brigand.

My Brigand is still in a lvl24 set (http://www.gamebanshee.com/titanquest/setitems/prideofthejadepalace.php) because of the insane set bonuses it gives, not using the bow however, have a nice Legendary bow now.

I went for the Rogue mastery first, to get the poison damage straight away (Envenom + Nightshade + Toxic, no Mandrake as enemies are dead before they have time to Fumble their attacks :D). Then went and maxed out the mastery column along with the Hunter column to get Study Prey. Have since been filling up Lethal Strike and Marksmanship and bits in-between.

Oh yeah, speaking of that website:
http://www.gamebanshee.com/titanquest/walkthrough.php

REALLY useful! (unless you feel compelled to discover the game for yourself).

Always fancied playing this co-op, I've heard it brings so much more to the game.
I didnt realise as many OcUK'ers played otherwise I would have badgered some to get some games going.

Just fought this centaur thing called Nessus, man that was hard. His name was red, and had some swirly things under it (probably something signifying he chews bricks). Got him down eventually though :D But had to be a little cheaty, brought him so far and he kept turning back, so ran in shot him, ran away, he'd turn around, I'd chase him, pop off a few arrows, turn around, he'd turn back and repeat. Took about 15 minutes :p

Haha yup, that's the only way to do Nessus (unless you're a super tank). As an archer I expect you'll be doing most bosses this way, slow caster bosses are easier as you can just dodge the attacks, but melee bosses will probably require the old "runaway till they disengage then shoot them in the back" technique. At least until you've got some health upgrades from your masteries and some nice armours. :)

Become a Harbinger (Hunter and Dream) and then get a harrowing weapon and a pair of Batrachos Greaves and you're sorted. Nothing can hit you and you can hit everything at % damage. It's probably the most OP class considering nothing but AOE can hit it, and even when it does it doesn't do any damage due to high DA.

Seriously addicted to this game. Been playing since it was released back in 2006. Lost the expansion CD so purchased it from steam and copied my game saves across.

I have following chars...

lvl 64 Conqueror
lvl 61 Elementalist
lvl 59 Diviner

I am doing some farming at the moment but cant get Dragons Tongue arcane formula to drop! Need it to complete a divine arcane formula :(
