So who's got an XBOX "Slim" coming this week?

Mine said the same until i started downloading then it was ok...

Oh right, i just thaught sod it and canceled everything that was on the list. :p
Just had another mess with the power button, simply hovering my finger about 1cm away turns the console on :D love it!

I like the buttons and so do my Kids :( Really hate the stupid bings every button push they are quite loud in a quite room.....They need an option to turn off.

I love this new revision of the console, but each of their own I guess. My whole tv area is now finally all black so it matches rather than a white 360 sticking out like a sore thumb. My old 360 sounded like a hoover too, could hear it even with headphones on after 20 minutes. This new one - was playing Castle Crashers with a mate tonight for about 2 hours, maybe 2.5, and even with headphones off I had to strain to hear it. The sound improvement alone is enough justification for me without even taking into consideration the internal improvements for cooling / built in wifi / internal hard drive and so forth.

Only niggles/bad things:

a) MS still package these 360's with a non-HD cable.
b) Don't like the eject button, too sensitive and poorly placed.
c) Major dust magnet. It's been standing there for about 12 hrs now and already looks like I need to get the duster out.
d) Would have prefered it to be a matt finish.

I just got a message telling me my xbox is shutting down due to insufficent ventilation....?????? Its on a shelf with loads of room... I now have a flashing Red Dot..

Oh well it lasted half a day.

They didn't really cut down it's size much did they, I mean looking at that pic EEDS posted it dosen't look like it

Got mine from work, delivery arrived just as I was about to leave. £176 with Red Dead Redemption, just need to sell my white one now!

Rather happy with it so far, much quieter, perhaps slightly quieter than even my PS3, although in terms of actual noise it's still a bit noticeable whereas the PS3 fan tends to just have a less-intrusive "woosh" sound. In any case, the old 360 drowns both of them out so it's a clear improvement there.

Nothing else to really say about it yet. It seems like the menu interface is a bit snappier but it's hard to tell. Overall though, I'm quite happy with it.

I hope they print in large letters on the box that it is ridiculously quiet so that everyone who might consider their box to be redeculously quite can finally improve their spelling.

On topic I must admit I'm tempted to get one of these newer boxes but not till all the early adopters have thoroughly tested them for me ;)

Looks good from a distance but feels really nasty. Like my new ps3 slim it also feels really nasty. My 60GB feels like a brick in comparison same with my old xbox it may have creaked but it was more solid.

new safety feature by MS to stop fried systems

Another amazing piece of MS design where they can't get enough cooling so this time it shuts down to stop it killing itself. Nice feature that when your in game. That will be nice when your playing online with mates, drop them a text to tell them you will be offline for half hour while the xbox cools down.

Again, I'd still rather have an old super elite 3 years warranty or they actually made the new console bigger with better cooling.

Whilst my console stays totally quiet, i've noticed I can hear the power brick blowing out air after a while. Does anyone elses power bricks sound louder than their console?

Stop talking crap and just hating on it because you can, it's seriously doubtful the 360 will have to turn itself off under normal gaming conditions. Give it some ventilation and it will probably never be an issue.

Forgot mine was on yesterday for the entire afternoon (2pm-8pm ish) and didn't have it overheat, in a pretty cramped spot too in my hot room and while a game was playing.

Well clearly if the guys shut down while being well ventilated it will shut down gaming to cool itself. When yours was running from 2-8pm I expect the game had paused because your controller had disconnected, but no your going to tell me you had the controller wired in aren't you.

Give it some ventilation and it will never be an issue, now where have I heard that before. No need to get angry because you have been suckered into being an MS beta test again ;)

Got mine yesterday, can I use a usb hard drive (wd 120gb passport) to move my saves ?

How do I go about swapping everything over ? Do I recover my gamertag on the new 360 then add everything from the usb hard drive ?

Personally I recovered my tag on the new console, copied over my save files etc onto USB from the old console then back to the new one, then did the DRM transfer thing at www.xbox.com/drm. Seems to have worked okay.

Oh shush.

They know I'm right, just like I was at the launch of the original Xbox 360 when Loadsamoney and myself said there was a build problem with the 360 that wasn't acceptable.

But hey it's shiney and new and I'm a tad prone myself to impulse buys on new stuff, but when you have had as much dud xbox's as me I'd rather let these others 'upgrade' and whinge about failures first and then buy the new new slim with the armageddon chipset.

I see your point, but this is hardly a completely console. Not to say it's going to be immune to problems, but I imagine first priority in every stage of its design, development and manufacture was to improve reliability and reduce possibility of failure. Even the the latest 'old' 360s were far more reliable than the earlier ones, so really there's no reason to think this will be any different.

We'll find out over the next few weeks/months though!

I won't be ordering one as I have a gaming pc, but this new slimmer 360 doesn't seem very slim to me.

The power of the console is that of 2005, when the original 360 was released.
I can't help but think that they should have incorportated a slimmer dvd drive in there.

Considering the original 360 was built on 90nm and this one is 45nm, they really have not shrunk it down much at all.

Personally I think the refresh puts the console back up there with the new ps3 and the included wireness n will make them sell.
