Not an everyday car, maybe driven 2 or 3 times a week. Can't be too flash mind as may be used occasionally to visit clients.

Get a 2+2 then and be a bit more conservative.

997 C2 all the way for 40k.

996 GT3 is a cracking choice, however I can't help but feel its starting to look a little dated maybe? Also when is the 998 due out?

Well looking at the pics above you can see the 6 and 7 GT3 look pretty much the same to most.....you can expect the 998 will be much the same in 2013 when the GT3 arrives'ish.

Got to wait 3 years on that for the prices to become sensible, **** taking the initial hit on a new one.
