So who's got an XBOX "Slim" coming this week?

Edit: I thought people said this runs cooler, it seems way hotter but no shutdown issues. I was surprised when I saw the insides of it, forgot it only has one fan now. |:

That top vent sure does get toasty though, much hotter than the back of my old 360.

It doesnt seem to run any cooler...and yes the top of the 360 gets pretty damn hot.

Another thing i have to say is that i get absolutely no noise from the dvd drive spinning up...i can hardly hear the disc being accessed....also one of the major reasons why i upgraded to this model is the fact that it has a built in WIFI chip which is also N certified....hooked up with my N router effortlessly....no more ugly cat5 cable running on the floor:p

You get No noise from the DVD drive ??? Are you sure its working....;)

im very happy with my new console. just be careful when dusting it as it scratches very easily. :(

Yeah it does. I got a brand new micro fiber cloth and even that leaves micro scratches if you catch the light right. I'm trying not to worry about it too much :o. It basically marks as easy as the bottom of a CD. <3 matt :(

A) You can take the hard drive out

B) Get a £4 pen drive and transfers your saves

Stop playing devil's advocate, you're too obvious. :p

Been tested to be pretty hot air coming from the vents.

Just sandpaper the whole case now in one direction for a nice matt finish and you wont care about dust and scratches ;)

I preordered mine and it's going to arrive on Monday because I'm a cheapskate with the delivery lol.

Anyways, I read an article somewhere where a certain game store said the UK models would come with a hard drive transfer kit. Is this true? Or is this only applicable to ones bought from them and only they bundle it?

I've got an old Core model which I would like to copy the saves and achievements from, and I would like to avoid paying £15 for the transfer kit if possible.

Or is there another way to do it, say using a USB stick instead?

You dont need the transfer kit which you have to buy you can just use a usb stick.

LOL yup...i didnt mean literally no noise...theres a faint spinning up sound but unlike my first 360 the premium and the elite that i had...it doesnt sound like a bloody jetfighter taking off in my room:p

Well, finally spent some time on mine today with Red Dead Redemption, and I'm much happier with it over my white 360, purely because of the reduced noise. My previous console wasn't particularly loud, but the fans were still a bit noisy, whereas this one is certainly more akin to the PS3 which I'm used to. Worth the money just for that? Perhaps not, but it's a brand-new console which my white one wasn't, and it looks great. Bigger HDD means I probably never need to worry about deleting games on it too.

can anyone confirm if turning off the xbox 360 will stop power supply to usb ports? and that the usb port can be used to power anything such as a usb fan?

i ask as i have a built in storage unit for the tv/dvd/xbox which nicely holds the xbox 360 on one of the shevles sticking out of the unit. i thought it'd be a good idea to put a small usb fan inside the unit to help keep the xbox cooler which would automatically come on when i switch the xbox on. what i don't want is for the fan to be running non stop even with the xbox off, and also for the usb ports not to power the fan.

although i'm sure it'll have no problem doing this on it's own i want to be as safe as possible.
