Motorola Milestone

Running stable at 1200mhz now, just for kicks. Linpack result just below the just released DroidX... This is literally a new phone. Why didn't I do this earlier!

Quadrant puts me just under a Galaxy S and above a Desire... which I don't think is too bad either.

this is Overclockers.co.uk after all ;)

motorola are still undecided on 2.2, the motorola page and a certain phone seller have now removed 'flash 10 ready' from their sites.
money claim online form on standby.

Thanks for all the replies.

A few of the deals have a limit of 500mb a month for internet.

Is this enough for email and a bit of web browsing?

Yes. It doesn't sound like a lot and more would be better but if you're just browsing the web and using email you won't need any more. If you start streaming music or video... that's when your usage would rocket.

For reference, here's a shot of Quadrant running at 1200mhz, which on my phone is perfectly stable and with SetCPU scaling has little effect on battery life.

Milestone is ok, I'd class it as more of a mid range phone now. 550Mhz CPU/256MB memory, against 1Ghz/512MB of the Desire. Overclocking to 1Ghz does help a lot, it's a lot smoother but still lacking memory.

It's built well, but Motorola are terrible at software. It's buggy and slow, locked bootloader means no custom roms, but thankfully root still works! 2.2 is still not confirmed.

It depends on what you want, if you're happy with it stock and its cheap enough then its ok. If you want Android for custom roms, messing around then dont bother, it's turd.

I'll be upgrading in Oct and never going back to Motorola.

Im trying to root my milestone but im having problems

it says Copy the update.zip to the root directory (folder) of the SD card on the phone.

Does that mean just open My computer/ milestone and copy it to that?

Well i went to My computer, Removable storage, and just copied it to there but when i ran the root it said there was no such file.

Do i have to copy it to a certain folder inside the removable storage?

So i go to my computer, open up Removable storage, which is my milestone.

Whicl folder do i put the update.zip into?

Which guide are you following Minx?

I followed several guides and none of them worked as they did not involve flashing a stock rom first.

I then found and followed this guide which means you flash a stock rom first then the vulnerability SBF and it worked without hitch.

I used the stock UK SHOLS_U2_02.31.0 rom to flash within RSD first, then flashed the vulnerability SBF, then applied the update.zip.
