My new Audi

Have to say, the past few days with the car have been great.

Almost to the point im too relaxed... im slowing down :(

I actually find my self day dreaming a bit in it... age probably

Its a good job we are all different or none of us would be able to buy our 1-3 year old bargain of choice.

Absolutely. But saying you can't understand why someone would spend 90k on a Audi...I just don't see where Audi fall down in comparison to such a degree that 90k on an A8 is a ridiculous concept. I'm not asking for hard data or something even verifiable, just some justification as to why it seems an outrageous propostion?

It's like "60k for a Datsun@ WHAT THE ****?".

I've gone all gestapo now.

Ironically i find i tend to drive the most powerful cars i have owned the slowest, i am not surprised that you are doing the same. The sense of urgency is just not there..

Its strange, i look forward to driving, then go slow and nearly fall asleep.. :p

No problem, i like a discussion, until 5 minutes ago i wouldnt have called myself a brand snob, but now ..... maybe.

Its like the GTR you mention, yea its a bargain for the performance, but me i would spend the other 15 or 20 lumps and get the Porsche instead, better made (in my opinion) better residual (im guessing) nicer place to be (in my opinion) just better.

Lets have it right, it wasnt a financial decision that led you to the Nissan, im quite certain you could have stumped up and got a Porsche, why didnt you?

I hardly ever have the urge to drive fast even though statistics / media / insurance suggest that as an 18 year old male I should be redlining and wheel spinning my car at every opportunity. I never really had that phase of driving with my socks on fire, even after passing my test. Maybe I'm odd  Or I'm going to go through that phase later on in life with a truly powerful vehicle and end up in a ditch :p

Part of it was financial, it always is. You'd have to spend a bit more than an extra 20k to get an equivalent Porsche. Ultimately though, it was because I drove it, loved it and then made my mind up after sampling other offerings. I'd have gladly paid more for it. It's a bit of a freak and I liked how and what Nissan had done. It was fresh in the UK and had made a lot of noise in the motoring press and I wanted in from the start. I have a small penis. CAP residuals are healthier than a Porsche.

Basically, I wanted one.

I could have made the same 90k comment about a Lexus. It's because I have a weird issue with Jap luxury, no matter how well they do it. Just find it odd that a brand like Audi is held in such low esteem by yourself in comparison to BMW, Jag and Merc, especially at that end of the market.

Please don't do it again, I just don't have the time to have these sorts of discussions. Busy guy, and all that.

Im just stunned anyone would spend 90k on an Audi.

Hard to put my finger on it to be honest, i find them anonymous and a bit lacking presence

Maybe that's part of the appeal to people that want luxury without the flamboyant decadence.

Fair enough saying you just don't like them as much as a Jag or a Merc, I happen to agree with you. To imply though that everyone that's willing to spend £90k on an incredible car like the Audi A8 is slightly off their rockers, assumes that everyone else wants to waft around in gradiose pomposity also.
