aparently ita fair because its 6cores vs 6 cores...

you can probably get a 12core amd server cpu for the same price maybe i should try to find someone with one :p
 
I'm also interested in seeing how the I7 perform with HT disabled since I mostly use my computer for Flight Simulator X and HT does nothing for FSX

And so far the 980X's have been using HT, so thats not a pure 6 core vs 6 core is it?

I for one would like to see how they both are clock for clock, core for core.

Hence why i personally think someone should test a 980X with HT off, so just the cores, at the same speed. But hey ho.

the only reason to benchmark with HT on and off is to see the difference Ht makes on that particular cpu. benchmarking a 1090t against a 980x with ht off is a pointless waste of time. you dont buy a cpu with hyper threading and then turn it off. it's like buying a 5870 and disabling a 3rd of the shader cores.

I totally get that point, and i know no one would buy one and not use HT, im just curious which is better at the same clock, the same cores. Call it curiosity more then anything. I can't be the only one curious at which is most efficient clock for clock can i? Ahwell lol.

But what i get from all this testing is if the software can make the most of real cores, amd will win, if the software is more threaded orientated then intel wins, at the £200ish price point.
 
lol - easyrider and his dodgy benchmarks like I said in the other thread. :D

Typical of 980x users to jump in - The X6 was always targeted at the i7 920 - Surely this thread amongst all the others show that clock for clock, they're mostly the same. Wonder if easyrider can live with this, now that its been proven 3 times.......
