Hi guys,
I was looking at the possibility of getting a NAS for my setup at home.
At the moment I have 1 main PC which streams to the rest of my house. I got a PS3 and a XBOX360 to stream media to. I also use my PC to watch/listen to media as well./
I use a wired connection between my router and my consoles via a wireless router. Then there is a wireless connection between my main PC and router. It all works well so far.
I've had a look at the possibility of a getting a Netgear NAS.
The one I like the look of is the NETGEAR RND2120 NAS because they currently have a free 2TB deal. So I would have 4TB in total which is enough space for me.
I was thinking of reasons why I want a NAS here are some.
1. Free up drive space in my PC. (both physical and actual drive slots)
2. Less noisy PC.
3. Possibility of sharing files via FTP and accessing at work.
Can you think of anymore reasons to want a NAS?
Also I got some questions.
If I had 1 GIG connection between my NAS and main PC
would the access speeds to files from the NAS To my PC be as quick as I access my sata drives from my main PC at the moment?
what would you do for backups?
any thoughts welcome thanks
