I was wondering if anyone here has ever had a Japanese (ideally Japan born) boss/manager. If so, what was it like?
I'm choosing between jobs and one particular boss is Japanese and was very nice, he seemed shy and wouldn't keep eye contact. It was a little difficult to communicate with him too.
I had frustrations with not getting feedback from my previous managers/boss. A friend of mine said I personally would find having a Japanese boss very strange. Apparently if I'm expecting a pat on the back or congratulations for a good job, the Japanese equivalent is a slight nod of the head.
Can we please refrain from racial comments or accusations. I'm clearly aware that all people are different regardless of race or creed, and I'm pretty sure everyone else in this forum is too. I'm merely looking for opinions/feelings from people who have worked under Japanese management.
