:chuckles:

I've still got to get started on S2 of Maria, I watched S1 which I enjoyed but the past few days have been given over to "something completely different" ;) (YUA Full Throttle episodes 13-18, which have been really good).

I should finish YUA off tonight, then I can start of Maria S2 :D

If there is anything that is forgiveable as something for delaying watching Maria it's watching YUA ;) .... of course it does delay getting to S4 where some things change and we learn about Yumi's love of the mini-skirt plus thigh-highs combo ... mmmm .... epic zettai ryouiki

Some news on Toradora overnight, Pt2 of this (and Persona) has been delayed from August to September to try and make sure of a problem free release (and I would hope free up some replication time to allow for replacement Pt1 disks to be produced).

).

And like magic I watch disk 1 of series 2 of Maria:p

I finished YUA and started on Maria S2 last night as I wasn't feeling up to do much else.

The last few episodes of You're Under Arrest Full Throttle were quite good, very much in the vein of the original series, whilst moving some of the characters along it also sort of did an **** to a minor degree (ending with the start of a new partnership).
The Aoi and Yuriko episode was a nice change of pace (concentrating on them rather than the dynamic duo).

The start of Maria S2 was also good, reintroducing everyone, and getting straght into the story with more background on a major character, and getting ready to send off the Elder Roses :)
I'm looking forward to disk 2 tonight (I'm wondering if Yumi will choose a sister straight off, or wait, and he she'll cope:p).

Resists urge for spoiler ..... just remember that you said that :)

Really needs a season 5 though, apparently the novels end with Sachiko's graduation which would round off the anime nicely too ... I think the amount of source material lefy would work quite nicely for a OVA "series" like season 3.

Currently watch the Count of Monte Cristo and started rewatching season 1 of Strike Witches ...

I, to my shame ordered Strike Witches the other day, it's part of an order with El Hazard (the new Nozomi release), and Mythical Detective Loki (it was very cheap:p)).

You're just making me want to watch disk 2 more now :)

Are the Maria books available in English? (I might order them if they are).

Unfortunately not, (otherwise I would have copies), ... Tokyopop did put out the manga in German (I think) but there has been no English release of that either.

It's a bit sill really as I know my sister read books of the same sort of ilk when she was younger so there is a market for that sort of stories whivh would be larger than the usual "light novel" market.

edit: I would say as well that Strike Witches, for all it's servce related reputation, is quite a nice little series so theres nothing shameful about ordering it.

edit2:
Section23 solicitations for October include Canaan on DVD and BR (nice action series) and Kimi Kiss Pure Rouge which is an ok harem visual novel type series. It also see a BR release for Tears to Tiara.

Double posting .. but well, I'm not going to three edits on the same posting ...

Finished Count of Monte Cristo earlier .... hmmm .... a bit conflicted with this. On the one hand it is a good series but on the other it does seem overly complicated in places and I can't say I liked all of the characters.

The art style did jar with me a bit as well. Heavily patterned and the way the patterns on the clothing were animated, or rather weren't, was odd. Also some of the backgrounds and buildings looked poor ... it looked like texture mapping out of Doom v1 and made things which should have structure just look flat.

I'm glad I've watched it but I can't say I enjoyed it that much.

I finished KissXSis last night.
Gotta say I actually enjoyed it, Andarial was right it's a bit perverted, but I'd say it was funnier than B Gata H Kei, and you didnt want to thump the protagonist quite as much.
Definately not an A list series, and the subject matter is a bit borderline [although I've already made my case on this scenario, and as they succintly put in the first episode...there's no shared blood between them], but if you're after something light hearted in that vein, you could definately do worse.

The teacher did make me laugh through the series though, definately one of the funnier side characters I've seen in recent animes, very JD-esque(Scrubs) in the way she'd zone out and seek advice from her 'guru'...who'd respond in RPG text style speak. Not to mention the 'collectors' room and the references to stuff like Final Fantasy.

It's not a series that enlightened me, but I don't feel bad I watched it, because it made me laugh. The animation for the ending was a bit jarring and felt a bit out of place, but the actual OP/ED were relatively catchy also.

I preferred B Gata H Kei because the comedy was done very well, mainly by it's use of the dialogue to give it that pervertedness but without showing it blatantly, whereas with KissxSis, it was borderline hentai. I still enjoyed it though and blonde teacher was pretty much my favourite character. I liked her voice and her closet otaku personality was just funny and quite representative of some otaku girls in Japan i.e. love for old-fashioned Samurai men.

you think the first series of strike witches is bad, wait till you watch episode 3 of the second series, hmm lol

I'll agree though that both strike witches and sky girls aren't actually that bad anime if you gloss over the 'uniforms' lol

yeah the latest strike witches episode is a blatant attempt at fanservice.

It is good for the dogfights and action though.

Watched season 2 episode 3 earlier ... I didn't think it was that bad fanservice wise .... at least they were "clothed" ... in fact it was relatively tame really.

Also finished rewatching the first season ... good stuff if you look past the fanservice, especially the dogfighting as Demoniser says.

Big manga sort out time tomorrow as new bookcases were delivered and built during the week ... that will of course have a knock on affect of big anime sort out as well as shelves are rearranged ... :)

Well it was worse than the first series in my view, still going to keep watching it though lol

Ah I do like this Genshiken show, parody-a-plenty. I see there is a second season, is it any good?

The second season is pretty good although I prefer the first season personally. Note that you should watch the OVA episodes (which were released originally with the Kujibiki Unbalance series although I do see that there is a season 1 + OVAs release due in August) as these act as a link between the two seasons so you'll miss plot points without seeing them.

Aye Genshiken was fun*:)

As memyselfandi says, don't make the mistake I made and watch S1 then S2, watch S1, then the OVA's then S2 and it makes a little more sense :)

I think the second season may also be getting a budget release soonish, although I may be getting confused.

I finished off S2 of Maria last night, which was good, lots of drama but a nice ending :)
I'm going to watch the specials tonight, then move straight onto S3.

*I think I saw one of the models they were making in MK the other day, i was sorely tempted to buy it (a Gundam HG kit).

There is a cheaper Genshiken S2 release (Litebox) due in September on R1, but the OVAs are included in the cheap season 1 set due out in August (Genshiken DX Collection), or are with the cheap Kujibiki Unbalance (Litebox) set out now (UP have the latter listed for £16.20+P&P).

I really like the last arc of S2, lots of nice melodrama and you really get to feel for Yumi as she struggles along, (although Yoshino's look when Yumi likens her returned umbrella to her relationship with Sachiko is priceless).

S3, being an OVA series does give you (a) an improvement in animation quality (although they still can't do cars or noses) and (b) widescreen goodness!

When I was in Kyoto I noticed this doorway with a glass cabinet with models in it, so I had a peer and inside was just some stairs going downwards ... curiosity beat me so I wandered down and found myself in this basement shop which was basically packed with those sorts of model kits, supplies for making them and add-on's and extras for them ... it was pretty awesome even for someone with zero talent in that area.

Re-watched Summer Wars this evening .... great film, can't wait for a Blu-ray release (although in the UK that probably now won't be until Feb' next year at the earliest ... although apparently September sees a TW release which may have English subs ....

Just about got my Anime and Manga sorted too ... just need to fiddle with the layouts a bit to tweak what goes where :)

Pics? or we will say you spent the whole weekend watching animé :D

I'll post some when I've done tweaking ... also need to generally tidy up that room now and workout what to do picture wise in there .... there's currently two large framed (non-anime) posters so I need to have a dig through to replace them and maybe something with wall scrolls.

I actually watched very little anime this weekend but did move around a great deal of it as well as reading three volumes of Yotsuba&!

edit: oh and the Nendoroids need to move back in their from their camp on my chest of drawers ....
