Not for an htpc with low power consumption, it doesn'tit should be a little cheaper though, say £110 or so.
So what's the difference in power consumption between the two cards

Idle is the same between the two and the 5850 is about 10W less at full load.
Temps 5850 is 3 degrees cooler at full load than 460.
So basically not much.

Yeah, talking about 5770...

Oh... 5770 is around 40W less full load. But same temp as 5850 usually.

not really usefull in RL though.Oh... 5770 is around 40W less full load. But same temp as 5850 usually.
If you run furmark the consumptions are higher but to be honest I can't see you two doing that.![]()
Edit - buh 3W sorry. So pretty much the same.
does it make sense now, Mr Krugga?
Yeah, total power consumption is 50w lower with 5770 if I didn't misread?

I think the point is if you're only doing light gaming then power consumption is negligible if the idle is the same... HTPCs are generally used for watching movies on right?

yes
Mr Kruggar is playing games with the wrong guy.![]()

I was never really that keen on Freddy Krugga tbh, dreadfull skin and really needed his fingernails clipping![]()
If you compare voltage tweakable card vs voltage tweakable card, the price difference is not as little as £20, but £35-£40.lol, no idea why people keep comparing these 2 cards. 5850 is easily the better card. Well worth the extra £20. You actually need to overclock the 460 to reach 5850' stock performance. lol. If you overclock the 5850 then the 5850 will be much faster. Simples![]()
