Sad story, an addiction so bad that it killed her.
If I was her family I would feel so guilty, why did they give her fatty foods, what the hell were they thinking.
you would expect there to be a point in her life where she said to herself "omg im fat i should do something about it" but she was greedy, thats what killed her. the gastric band is an easy cop out and only a person unwilling to diet would go for one. its not really a mental illness, it was an addiction.
40-50 years ago we didn't have buckets of fried chicken available to us for pittance. We didn't have "fast food" restaurants on every high-street. We didn't have televisions in every house to slump in front of, we didn't have conglomerate supermarkets driving the price (and thus quality) of food down day after day.Yep, she was once a normal weight, then was was slightly overweight, then she was overweight, then she was massively overweight, then she was moby dick. Its easy looking at the final position she was in and going crickey it was a desease. No, she had just let it get so bad that she couldnt break out of it.
Put it another way, why did we not have these problems 40-50 years ago. Is it because we have realised that overeating is a desease suddenly which has made the fatties visible to us. Or is it because we now try to find an excuse for anyones problems or shortcomings. How come so many children have OCD, ADHD etc. When I was at school about 10 years ago we had about 3 kids that were on meds. They now have about 10 times that number. Please dont tell me that its just because we have learnt how to diagnose these in the last few years.
I smoke and understand that its addictive and unhealthy, if it one day causes me health issues I wont have anyone to blame but myself. Its addictive but I have never met an addictive substance that can get you hooked if you dont use it.
What on earth were her dumb family thinking?
Lots of people making jokes in this thread. There's absolutely no need, obese people already have enough on their plates.
"Slim ... bride Sharon Mevsimler in her 20s"
Lol she was hardly slim even then!

Everyone is capable of making a choice wether it is very clear or not. Ultimate judgement comes from the person whatever the condition is.
OK... thought experiment.
Imagine that a mental illness existed that prevented you from making a rational choice based on the information that you had available to you. Moreover, your perception of the available information is distorted so you are not aware of the true facts. The illness also means that you are not aware of any of this.
What would you do?
Well, here's the deal - there are mental illnesses that do just that. If you believe that there aren't, then I advise you to become a psychologist as you will make a fortune sorting out everyone's problems by overcoming their mental health issues.
A lot has been said in this thread about this womans mental condition.
That has nothing to do with her "weighty" condition.
She could not leave her bed for the last FOUR years.
