One last time before I press the buy button, GTX 470 vs the 5870

I don't think I have ever seen as many inconsistent review results across hardware sites as I have with the current 5800 series vs. the GTX4xx series. No idea why this is the case because someone is clearly telling porkies!

I think you guys are right, it is the best 5870 to go for 4 sure!

See all my uming and arring, has got me the correct choice.

If I hadnt been like this I may have bought the cheap (by £25) HIS, and missed out on an extra 1gb of ram for £25, which is a good bargin really.

Yes, toltally inconsitant results when reviewing benchmarks accross the net for the 400 vs 5000 series!

Thats why I think overclockers should have their own benchies, official ones

Yo dood

It uses Mini display port connectors. However, it also comes supplied with 1 x Mini DP to HDMI Cable, 2 x Mini DP to Single Link DVI Cable, and 2 x Mini DP to DP Cable.

Hope that helps dewd

So using the included Mini DP to HDMI Cable I can just plug the video card straight in to my monitor?

(Sorry for the dumbass question just making sure!)

Comparing a 58** card to a ps3 lol ? The only reasons stuff on the console looks good is a) they optimize it precisely to the console b) its a TV (resolution) and you are relatively far away. The computing power of all consoles is rubbish and cannot compare to anything this and last gen.

Also the 5870 is simply superior to the 470.

Assuming you have an HDMI input on your monitor, then yes. You said it was DVI before?

Yeah it's also 40 quid dearer though!

Since you keep talking about Crysis 2 consider this: this one is also being developed for consoles also. So...it either means it will be much easier on the graphics. Or terrible.

Sorry getting confused, I have VGA and DVI on my monitor only.

I hope the card comes with a cable to connect the dvi on my monitor to one of the mini display ports on the card!

True, now the real question is whether the performance gain is worth the 40 quid. I'd say yes, if you're going for decent tech then stretch it at least that far. But in reality I would probably go for a good 460, save for a bit and add one more later on. (given a compatible mobo) Or even make do and go for an update earlier.

All in all, Crysis 2 is unlikely to be very demanding :

1) it has to work flawlessly on current gen consoles regardless of additional PC eyecandy

2) rendering a block of building fascia is simply much easier then a jungle
