I have one, replaced my 300gb VR. Much better! Faster, quieter, and much snappier. On par with the difference changing from a 320Gb WD drive to a 300Gb Vraptor.

I was put off after reading the Corsair offical forum regarding drive not being found on start-up/reboots by BIOS. But then there isn't that many complaints on the forum compared to how many they most be selling a month on a global scale.

Personally, no.

I also read about the vanishing drive. Never happened to me.

Looks to me like a possible conflict between controllers. Mine is plugged into a Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R Sata3 port without issues.

it's between this and getting another Raptor and raiding them, is this faster than two raptors in raid?

It is certainly faster than 2 raptors in raid. There have been some teething problems with corsairs range of ssd's initially but most have been sorted out now.
