it does average 25fps on a 5770 with very high setting at 1920x1080 i know i completed it twice with a 5770 you sometimes get dips into the 15's in a intense fight but it's perfectly playable

The benchmarks mean nothing with crysis though, I score very highly in them but with the 5870 I actually played the game all the way through for the first time and there are numerous areas where personally I felt the slowdown was unacceptable.

I agree with the above. The level on the deck of the ship? Filled my RAM up and brought my system to it's knees. Managed to get task manager up and end it though.

I was getting 35fps average on high settings just now, but it wasn't smooth enough gameplay IMO.

What kinds of AA are you running, probably insane amounts if you getting mega dips into the low 20's and 25FPS is fine for crysis if you can hold that framerate constanly

System Ram. It basically locked up, then I pressed ctrl + alt + del and eventually the option for task manager loaded, and it was using 3.9gb of ram and was coshing the page file. :/

sounds more like a memory leak to me i've never seen it go past 1.7 gig of ram only game i have ever had eat 4 gigs of ram is fallout 3 using the super HD texture and bumpmapping pack that used 3.7gig even warhead on enthusiast with 4xAA i've never seen more than the 1.7 like i said

what sort of background programs do you have running

*edit* just tried playing the frozen boat level memory usage was 70% thats 2.7 gig take into account my system at idle munches 1.1gig that means crysis was using 1.6 gig on that level which is one of the more demanding ones all settings on enthusiast and 2xAA never dropped below 30FPS averaged about 40FPS thats with my 5850 overclocked to 950/1200 (about the same as a stock 5870)

Not the frozen boat level, on Crysis on one of the last levels where you have to defend the ship from the big thing and shoot it with that Tag Cannon or whatever it's called.

Could be a memory leak aye. The only things I have running in the background are AVG, Zone Alarm, CCC, and Ultramon, and sometimes I have winamp on my second monitor.

Never been able to replicate it since though. :/

oh i know where you mean it's a PAX cannon i think where you have to defend from the ships and the big monstrosity. it's quite an intense scene you might get some dips and stuff. Don't know if i have a save there to tell you what kind of performance i get there

None, if you play the game all the way through on a 5870 at 1920x1200 very high you will see dips way lower than 20fps

then i'd seriously check your rig as i've almost finished it again with my new 5850 overclocked to 5870 speeds and not seen any of these dips you talk of.

tell you what name some of these points where you get these dips and i'll play through them cause to be honest i think it's a specific problem with you/your rig cause i never see dips that bad period.

it's more the last level of the game, on the first boss where it dips quite low and it is certainly obvious when at the first level you were getting above 30fps then you get the low 20's

Iv been playing with my 5870 yesterday, and Im playing with warhead enthusiats 1920x1200 and 2x aa, and it is 100% playable... in fact its absolutly enjoyable to play.

I does dip now and again, especially during the vehicle moments, but Im perfectly satisfied with the performance.

Im thinking my frame dips are becuase yesterday I was only running my cpu at 3ghz... will try to overclock it to at 3.6 or 4 if Im extremely lucky.

One thing Iv noticed tho, is BFBC2 looks no better on all settings maxed as it did at medium!

The only difference is at medium, the grass and the rocks etc, dont get rendered untill you actually walk in that direction...

Check the whole thread, you'll see we're talking about the 5870 here, already said the 5830 may be able to play it as it's clearly more powerful that a 5870.
