**** Original Starcraft 2 Thread ****

me too, playing SP and its fantastic, the vids are entertaining but reasonably short and the diversity in terms of what you can purchase between missions and the different tech routes and mission options makes for muchos replayability :)

Is it really 50 practice matches or is my copy glitching?

And before anyone says it I know you can skip them.

they should have made it 100 imo.

I retire from online starcraft after a 1 win 1 lose record.

I'm just not good enough.

Will play the SP as its pretty damn good for an RTS.

lol at 1/1 and quiting - im 16 games in and have won 7 lost 9 and im still learning more each game and loving it.

anyone else having achievement problems? I have unlocked all the zerg and protoss research and havnt been given any of the achievements for accomplishing this?

Also awesome game loving the variety of missions, not really had many of the missions where you just have to spam units and destroy the enemy base lots of variety i like it.

And multi-player is just as awesome as always

Single is awesome cant wait for the next two now.

Loved the collectors edition box and the art book feels like an expensive piece of kit and its nice to have my different Thors ramapge through someone elses base :)

Might be the best RTS single player campaign I have ever played.

Scratch that, Company of Heroes blows this out of the water.

The best "C&C style" RTS campaign at least then.

Single player of CoH was quite good i thought, but its a totally different style and approach to gaming. Blizzard have kept true to the storyline and the nostalgia of the origional games. Which, for me at least is whats so nice about it!

I think what makes SC2's campaign great is all the stuff outside of the missions on the ship. Just adds another level to everything. COH had better individual missions though - not trying to say anything bad about SC, finding it extremely enjoyable so far.

Probably been asked before, anyone have some good links to a youtube channel or similar regarding build guides / strats?

HD starcraft youtube channel is great but they discuss complex strats likes it child's play, I'm looking for a more introductory guide into the new balances/counters in SC2.

Go listen to the latest Blizzcast, Dustin Browder says they make the matchmaking so you should expect to have a win/loss ratio of 1:1.

HD and Husky are the most basic you're going to get. Complex strats is not what they do. :p

SC noob school, (on youtube) maybe. - ( I personally don't rate him highly but he may be of some use. I think he doesn't really explain things that well and may confuse you more than help you.)

Day 9 Daily's may also help:

Remember this is a very new game (inspite of the Beta) so there is no "Follow this build order and win" guide.

I find just watching a tonne of games with commentators like HDStarcraft HuskyStarcraft PsyStarcraft (Zerg games mainly) and Day[9]'s Daily's has given me a much broader understanding of the game.

Over time I imagine the top players will release replay packs (as they did in the Beta) which will allow you to delve in deeper into the mechanics of how they play.

I like Day[9]'s analysis as he spends a lot of time discussing the game and aspects of game play. Once your basic understanding of the concepts develops a lot of what he says makes a hell of a lot of sense. He does not focus on the "Action" but more the "Good Habits and behaviors" seen in top players. The sorts of things we should all aspire to.

BTW Day[9] doesn't just talk the talk he walked the walk... He was the US Starcraft Broodwars best player for about 3 years running and had been to a few World Gamers Championships Representing the US.

100% spot on i'd say :)

that ratio is how it should be for improvement, i like it :)

what im waiting for now are the map modders to get involved. The blizzard games always inspire some very creative maps ideas, such as tower defense. Apart for the tons of viking clones to come out i cant wait to see what original ideas surface
