Horrible horrible feeling

He'll be fine!

My Godson's brother was born with the same thing. He was in and out of hospital fine and they have done a superb job, to the point where you'd only know he had it if you were told.

Worrying about your young kids is a very normal thing when they are going through something that they do not understand. Take solace in the fact that they bounce right back from any setback and take it all in their stride. Adults could learn a lot from kids at times like these.

This. 2nd youngest had a small growth around his ear (like the bit of skin that goes in towards your ear hole split in two), and a growth inside one of his lips. Ear one was operated on at 9mnths, and it's only natural to be worried for them going under a general (even worse with us as it was purely cosmetic - should we/shouldnt we etc).

As above tho they really do bounce back amazingly.

Hope everything goes well and your little'un makes a full and speedy recovery.

It will be fine... As said before, he will bounce back and be in your arms in another hour or so...

Hope he recovers well!! :)

I feel for you mate, I have been in the same situation, Firstly my little boy was born 6 weeks prem so was in hospital for 2 weeks at the start then after about 6 months he had to have an operation in London for a groinal hernia and then 3 months later he had to have the same operation on the other side.

Some of the most stressful times of my life, It has defo put some grey hairs on my head.

Chin up all will be fine.

he'll be fine mate, I was born with the same thing, am now 32, had 4 ops on it, 2 very young, a bone graft at 12 ish and the last one on my nose at 18. he'll remember nothing about the early ops, unless you take pictures of him with his arms in splints so he can't mess with all the stiching. the worst thing for me was the years of braces due to the wonkiness of my teeth, but he'll get over it :)

all good making excellent progress, sitting up playing and has as of 20 minutes ago settled down and went to sleep :) out of hi dependency tommorow if all stays the same and hopefully home before monday

Must be hell to have a kid in surgery though :(

I don't have kids myself but I can imagine what it must feel like. That feeling of being helpless combined with the fact that you can't even explain to the wee man what's going on must be hellish. Still, as everyone else has said ... he'll be fine mate. Keep us updated will yi and let us all know how the wee fella is doing ;)

Al

All good out of surgery and into high dependency for 24hours woot

Doh!!! I should really read all of the posts before replying huh? Glad the 'wee yin's' okay matey :)

The wee waynee will be fine mate,

You can't combine wee and wean, wean is already shortened from "wee 'un". :p

I also lolled at the weegies in the thread taking the bucky comment personally. :D

Glad to hear your son is recovering well, I know when times like this come for me I'll be a wreck!

This might sound a very odd question, but when you had your 20 weeks ultrasound, were they able to spot this, or did you find out later or at birth?
Just wondered as we're being brought back for a followup scan at the moment to check for this exact thing.

just to give you an idea of the difference that the first op can make

heres kian before his op

Bloody hell matey .... First of all ....

What a cracking looking wee laddie you have  You must be one very proud daddy

And secondly ...

Looking at pictures like that (before and after) never ceases to amaze me how something so 'routine' can have such dramatic effects. Modern medicine is friggin' amazing

Al :D

Bloody good result on the outside.
They do this, consistently, it is so much betetr now they've moved to early intervention.
We still don't know for sure, hopefully won't be needed, the wee ba was in a bad position and refused to move, so with its face squashed against the placenta, the radiographer couldn't be certain. We'll find out in 3 weeks when we're back.

even though the last pic you can still see where he has had surgery i'll have to dig some newer pics off the camera you cant even see he's had surgery now

edit

here he is a couple of days ago :)

Ignorant erse, you deserve to banned for that.

Wow I bet you are the life and soul of the party (Lan I bet)

Glad everything has went ok! Couldn't imagine what its like to have to go through that, no matter what kind of operation it is.

Now you want some Tennants, none of this Buckfast malakry!:p

Cute little fella, amazing job they have done there. Pleased he's ok, I can't imagine how i'd feel if one of my two were in hospital/surgery.
