When buying a ticket most bus drivers I meet wish you to depart their field of vision as fast as possible as they grunt in reply to you. They then proceed to drive as slow as possible, stopping at traffic lights the instant they turn amber and letting 50 cars pull out at junctions.

However on my recent trip to Amsterdam I managed to leave my wallet with all my ID's, credit cards and 300 euros on the bus to the airport. The driver who had initially seemed rude, not only found the wallet before anyone else but immediately phoned the bus company and the airport. He then took a large detour from his route once I'd made contact to come back to the airport and give it to me, 20 mins before my flight left. He told me he'd only opened the wallet to check the name and poked fun at me in a nice way for being so stupid enough to lose it.

So I just wanted to say that bus drivers aren't all that bad..... infact some are very good people indeed!!

one friendly local driver decided to sit about 3 inches off my back wheel (on my bike), would be ok in stop start traffic, but not at 20mph!

oh and then he nearly took my head of with the wing mirror when he went past,,,

what a lovely chap he must be.

I can relate, left my wallet on the bus with like £20 and all my cards etc. The driver handed it into the depot and i picked it up a few days later all as was.

I worked in my aunts taxi company as a young teen, used to find all sorts in the back.. always handed in wallets with the contents! Sometimes got a fiver or tenner back the next week. :) Only happened every couple of months though.

Used to find parker pens and coins etc all sorts.

Dutch people are the most friendly people on this planet, apart from the eleven gimps who played in the World Cup final.

I would tend to agree with that.

I have lived in 5 different countries and I would have to say that the people here are by far the most polite.

Everyone you pass when you are walking or riding a bike says hello

And I live up north close to the german border so i'm not really in a very touristy section of the country. (though we do have a world famous zoo)

Yep, dutch people are extremely friendly. I met some years ago through gaming on the internet and have flew over a few times now to stay over and partaaaaaaaay!

Even with our language barrier, we get on very well!

They're so friendly because they're all stoners....

How many stroppy stoners do you see? :p
