Doubt its considered a medical thread but if it is ye then well...

Anyone had them? Had a sports massage recently and she found 7 muscle knots on either side of my spine. One being inbetween my shoulder blade and spine, about the size of pear drop sweet.

Too many years of using a mouse is the cause of the worst one i reckon, constant arm raised to use the mouse.

Anyone had them sorted out? If so how...

I had a shoulder problem for about 6 months which was a knot.

A rather nice lady physio treated me by jabbing a finger right on the button so hard it made me yelp but to my amazement it worked a treat.

Physio should sort it out Thorpy.

So... Go the NHS about it or see an actual Physio at uni but that won't be till Oct?

I would say whatever is easiest for you and how bad the problem is.

Can it wait until Oct ?

If not, sound your GP out for a referral or at least how long it would take.

I don't think I could take a sports massage, I'd cry from the pain. I can't get a proper massage as I'm too skinny around the ribs and it just tickles!

Had this problem for about 2 years but just dealt with the pain but now I'm training and getting fit for football it's starting to **** me off :p

I'll call the doc 2moz.

Mate, the woman said just let me know when I'm applying too much pressure. She banged the whole lot on and it felt amazing. Having 7 muscle knots is no fun, she rolled her knuckle from top to bottom and i felt every single one.

She asked me to go back but it would cost about £30 a session, bit skint :p

Ye ta mate.

Whats pretty bad is... If i bring my right arm/shoulder inwards towards the muscle knot, my spine cracks.

Not good :p

I had a trapped nerve in my neck recently, and in the ensuing massage a knot was manipulated in my back that made me instantly nauseous. I was quite amazed, and relieved not to chunder through the face-hole.

Just about to get a sports massage done this Thursday! Been getting headaches for months now - or what I thought was a headache. Cervical neck muscles are very tender, I think due to bad posture sat for many hours at a computer. Gaming/Uni Work :-/. Hope it works!

first time you go it will hurt like hell :(

i have the exact same problem as the OP - got a knot ni my right shoulder - im not fussed though as i've had them before and a few deep masages always works them out.

i suppose i will have to submit myself to a few more massages by the sexy eastern european bird at my Gym.....sigh :D

Whats the difference between a knot and cramp?

Either way I get terrible discomfort in the back of my thighs. So much so I sometimes feel like jabbing a fork in my leg it gets that irritating!

<dodgy post>

My PE teacher at school used to be great at sorting out muscle knots - which I got a lot after rugby, hurt like crazy though when he fixed it.
