GTX 470, GTX 480, or SLI? What to do?!

GTX 480 it is then I think. I kinda regretted not buying a 285 when I bought my 275 really, so will be nice to own one single powerful card :D

the 275 is still a good card ,it is really a 280 with lower memory and other bits missing . at res your running with current Screen you would have seen not much of an upgrade going 285.. so you have save money..

get the 480 and then a mans Screen :D

Don't they make Sausages? Go for a 32" Lcd , preferably a 1080p/24hz set at lest then you can kill two birds with one stone, i.e watch Blu-rays on it at Directors intended level and have a fast gameing Panel, with 1.3 Hdmi in at back, as the 400 cards have this.

if your not buying till September, then wait and see whats available then. i think the 470 is probably soon to be discontinued with a 475 gf104 core card taking its place.

1280x1024 - 470
1680x1050 - 480
1920x1xxx - 470 SLI
2560x1xxx - 480 SLI

those would be what I would recommend for maxing out that resolution using nvidia cards

I thought I had this decided :p Last night I was all for GTX 480. Now I'm not sure if the GTX 470s in SLI are better...but then again, less upgrade path options! Ahhhh! A GTX 480 should be able to handle most games at full settings even on 1920x1200 right?

Hmm, then I think a 480 is the answer...maybe...until I change my mind again :p Lol. I know it's still a little bit until I buy, but I need to do something to keep myself occupied until I have the money to buy :p

If you can afford it, and know that you want better frame rates at 1920x1200, then don't beat about the bush. Put it into your basket, put your mouse over the buy button, close your eyes and press it. Job done :)

480 @ 850 core is a monster card, some of the framerates it gives is insane and compared to my previous card a 5870 @ 1000 core it destroys it in average and min FPS, for example and explosion in crysis warhead would dip you down to 25-30 FPS with the 5870, the 480 is around 40-45.

Excellent news Raven :) I think I will go for the 480 definitely. One final thing, will it handle two monitors at once fine? If I was to upgrade my monitor, I would still want to be able to use the 22" on the side ^^

That's all good then. Just need to decide if I want watercooling or a new monitor after the 480 then I guess :p Don't think I will have any performance issues with this 480 at 1920x1200. It seems to only really be Metro 2033 and good old Crysis that stretches it, and even then I can turn a few bits down, and it should still fly I hope :D
