Someone says to you.

"I'm minted, buy whatever you need for photography, I'll pay for it"

What comes to your mind without having to think about it?

For me:

Canon 24-70L f/2.8
Canon 70-200L f/2.8 IS
Canon 135L f/2.0
Canon 50mm f/1.4
Canon 5D Mk2 (don't NEED this but want one)
Canon 580EX II
Battery Grip for the 5D2
Pocket wizard setup

----

Now I'm having to think about what else I want/need

----

According to prices of a certain warehouse related website....

That's £7017!!! And that's not including any studio gear I want.

*takes hammer and looks at piggy*

Your turn :)

Keeping to DSLRs rather digital medium format etc I would grab:

D3x + D700 + D300s (3 bodies at 3 size-weights with 3 different purposes).
14-24,16-35 f/4 Two wide angle options, 10-24 for the D300s
24-70, 17-55, HQ normal zooms, just because.
16-85, for the D300 for hiking.

70-200 VR II, 200-400

24 1.4, 35 1.4, 85 1.4 135DC 2.0,

200 2.0, 400 2.8, 600 f/4.

24 and 45mm PC lenses.

200 f/4 Macro

couple of SB900s but don't know why.

Everything from ultra-wide to super tele at fastest speeds, plus all the important primes, plus lighter weight zooms and bodies for hiking, specialised lenses like macros and PCs.

So, just most of the Nikon Pro catalogue then??!! :D

I guess folks will just choose whatever is top end from whatever is their camera brand of choice....

basically, but I have still selected a subset of all possible lenses I would want. E.g., there is no 3002.8 and 500 f/4 although i am sure they could be used where the other sper telephotos don't work out.

D3x + D3s + D700 (and i know the differences)
14-24mm, 24-70, 70-200vr2, 200F2, 200-400VR2 and all the long primes. Then i would try and find the 300F2 and the Nikkor Noct 52mm :)
+ Canon 5dmk2 - 85L, 50L, 35L for studio work.
And ofcourse all the monitors, big apple comps etc to go with it. £75k ish.
And a 2010 Audi RS6 Avant to carry it all round + Fuel card!

I just clocked up £17k on WarehouseExpress, and I barely got started! haha

I can't be bothered to format the below.

Total:
£16695.05

1Ds Mk4 (when it arrives)
1D mk4
70-200 f2.8L IS Mk2
16-35 F2.8L mk2
50 f1.2L
85 f1.2L mk2
135 f2.0
200mm f2L
300mm f2.8L IS
400mm f2.8L IS
100mm f2.8L Macro IS

And a couple of great big Peli cases to drag it all around in

god knows how much that would all cost.

Don't want much now.

17-55 2.8
70-200 F4 or 2.8

Both of those I will buy this week now I've eventually had my martins refund and decide whether I want 2.8 or the lightness of the F4.

580exii
OCF 10m cord.

2k tops.

D3s
D3x
16-35 f/4
24-70 f/2.8
24mm f/1.4
70-200 f/2.8
400mm f/2.8

TC14E
TC20E

A fancy expensive carbon fibre tripod, big pile of lee filters, small pile of pocketwizards, a pair of SB900s and a set of serious strobes (probably Broncolor I think) would all be on my immediately list but bodies and lenses wise that's it - any more is just a waste as they'll sit at home, there's no point ordering the entire pro catalogue unless you care more about the gear than the results...

Without going completely overboard and slightly realistic to my needs:

1D Mk IV
1Ds Mk III

24-70L
85L
135L
70-200L IS II
100L Macro
2x580EX

Pocket Wizards
Decent monopod, tripid and some filters.

On second thought, that does look slightly overboard ;) :D

1DS MK4
5D MK2
24-70L
17-40L
50 1.2
135L
2x 580EX
300L
Bowens Gemini Kit + Battery pack
Plus various Extreme IIIs 4/8GB cards and a carry case.

Probably around £12,000.

erm, my gear is currently insured for around £8,500, without the L-glass that is coming this week....

Quite scary really, and i am not "finished".

Is it insured on its own policy or covered under home? How much/with who do you insure it? When I've looked for holidays etc. most places only cover up to £200 per item which is useless with L glass!

It's own policy, within anywhere in the UK cover. I could add 30 days world wide if i wanted to. It's about £20 a month at the moment just for the contents of it.

out of what I would like and am geared more towards my list would be quite short

1Ds MkIII
70 - 200 IS f2.8 + 1.4 extender
400 f2.8
16 - 35 f2.8 or 17 - 40 f4
24 - 70 f2.8
A tilt shift lens (dunno which one)
580EX II x 2
Pocket wizard

Last two just to try something new, the rest for landscapes / football. Hmmm list is bigger than i thought. :D

You wont need 2 grips. In fact, i got on fine without the grip on my other 5D. I have it because its a LONG day. and the grip allow for 2 batts. The grip weights a bit, you will feel it carrying 2 cams.
