Colour me racist, but...

I'm not a fan of them either, but I once got 2 months free line rental out of BT because some dude in India agreed to it when I moaned, even though he didn't have the power to do so.

He stuck it in the notes on my account, and the UK centre could do nothing about it.

Wow, that's amazing. I NEVER have these kind of issues with Northern English call centres.

Bare also in mind that a lot of companies use centres in E Europe as well. Not India.

While I share your grievances with hardly-coherent Indian accents, a call-center in the UK would be equally frustrating to call. You'd get the same dumb answers.

Bingo, there are plenty of people in this country with accents so thick they're impossible to understand that clearly. For example a lot of Northern accents are pretty bad, so are the Irish ones.

I always find Orange with their Geordie accents sound

Same goes for the Scottish ones to be honest, unless they grew up on a council estate in Glasgow and then only their parents know WTF they're on about.

Edinburgh accents on the other hand give me the horn.

Capital One are the best, a recent conversation....

"Hello Mr G|mp, my name is Keith calling from Capital One"

"No it isn't, what's your real name"

"My name is Keith Mr G|mp, can I take your account number please?"

"No it isn't, tell me your real name dude and I'll talk to you"

"My real name is Rakesh Mr G|mp, can I have your number please?"

"Sup Rakesh, yeah it's.............."

Capital one are the worst.

I had over £1000 taken on my card, without my consent. Which I spotted the same day it had been taken.

So i rang them up and told them, and all i got was.

Them: There are no unauthorised transaction on this card.

Me: Yes there are, i have not authorised these transactions.

them: There are no unauthorised transaction on this card.

Me: Yes there are, i have not authorised these transactions.

This went on for a few minutes, before i put the phone down. I rang up and got someone who could at least speak half decent English, Then I got put in contact with their English fraud department. To which i reported the first person i spoke to.

Have you atleast checked the status of your exchange? BT have a number on their bills. Don't know your isp.

I worked in a UK call centre and I tell you now that the whole place was just as bad as your experience. Heck even a British colleague of mine could not speak proper English!

Also, upgrade your downgrade to a regrade and your providings.

The only Indian call centre I've had to use a number of times is Virgin and I've never had a problem. The only thing I don't like is how they try and fob you off with ''My names Mary'' when you know it's not :p

You should try living in the UAE! without exception everyone you deal with is Indian, Pakistani or fillipino, both in shops or on the phone. After a couple of weeks you get used to it, you develop a special way of speaking using simple words and speaking as clearly as possible and you usually have no problems. :)

This grates on me a bit. I find it a little bit patronising. I can imagine they do it to avoid any potential confrontation with the racist scumbags they might have to call, but I feel bad that I get lumped in to that potential group.

I wish after one conversation they get to tick a box that flags you as a friendly and cultured individual.
