Jesus Christ! Don't forget to put your seat belts on!

You obviously know little about policing. It's a regularly known and used distraction technique for motorists who are believed to have a high risk of driving away (and thus putting officers in close proximity into danger). Admittedly, kicking the windscreen is not part of this technique and I would say was rather silly.

It's obvious that there is more to this story than is reported, so I can't make a judgement to whether it is justified or not.

climbing on the bonnet of a car of someone you believe is going to drive off is a regular technique?

****ing hell surprising more of the tards don't get their brains crushed under a wheel.

So he drove off (in a black Range Rover with a personal number plate) after being pulled over, I'm not surprised that the police acted the way they did.

Are you stupid. He obviously drove off because he thought they'd dealt with him, genuine mistake (look at how old he is) and instead of flashing him down or following him with there cars the pieces of ***** thought it was a good idea to smash his windscreen and his driver side window and then drag him out the car.

I wonder how youd feel if it was your grandad.

But I dont expect any better from you, you always defend police/government in whatever they do. If you was a german in ww2 youd try to defend the holocaust, fix up kid.

The original "crime" in this case is so lame there isn't even a proper penalty for it - just a bit of financial extortion. Why was there such a suspicion if he drove off? Also, while the news article is vague and he could have sped off in any kind of manner, it doesn't seem to mention whether he actually paid the fine. He could have paid the fine and assumed he was free to go, and the police officers in question have just gone in to one of their high and mighty rages and escalated the situation beyond all reason. We don't know the facts for sure, so it's interesting how in this thread a lot of people are using that to say or at least imply the police were probably in the right.

To play devil's advocate a little, let's say the guy did just drive off angry after being stopped for not wearing his seat belt. Does doing that mean he was a potential serious criminal and must be stopped at any cost? There is a presumption in this case that the driver of the Range Rover is a threat because of his actions, and it's a presumption which tbh, is pretty much completely unfounded. At what point does going about your daily life raise enough suspicion that you must be investigated? Accidentally dropping a cigarette out of the window? Putting your hand down to adjust the radio? Blinking for too long?

Wouldn't it be easier for the police to have one of those little emergency window hammers (or a centre punch style one) than smacking at it with a baton for half an hour?

Walk up to window >tap with hammer/click with punch > window is gone.

Instead of flashing him down? Did you miss the 20 minute police chase with blue lights he was in first?! The only smashed the window the second time he stopped!

Er...they did follow him with their cars...for 17 mins...with the sirens and lights going. He thought they were "escorting me home". They even had to deploy a stinger.

So the genuine mistakes he has made are... having an illegal licence plate.. driving off when he thought the police had "finished" with him... not stopping for almost 20 mins despite the lights/sirens ... previously having been caught with an expired tax disc , no insurance and no mot.

Well...in all honesty, if he is making those amount of "genuine mistakes" he probably shouldnt be on the road.

Try reading my link B&W. Innocent old pensioner my arse.

So what, the police must have said something to make him act like that. I've been stopped many times by the police, sometimes the officers are polite and everything goes fine. Sometimes they are arrogant, cocky smartarses who think cus they have a police badge means they can talk to u anyway they want.

The old man was scared after they punctured his tyres, and one of the coppers mite have been the one in the MOT incident so he might have thought they had a vendetta against him.

So, he thought they was escorting him and when he does stop they don't need to smash his car, they just had to sorround it to make sure he didn't go no where and then make him come out by "talking" to him..

I'm willing to bet money the old guy was hostile to the police officers and refused to accept he had done wrong and needed to pay a fine. When he was told he had to, he was not only rude and un co-operative but then left in a childish tantrum. The whole "i thought they were escorting me" thing doesnt wash with me.
