Jesus Christ! Don't forget to put your seat belts on!

very interesting article there Wicksta, so they know him, know that he chucks the old sick, card, pensioner? big lad at 64 aint he? known for driving off, makin allegations of police brutality and ignoring the motoring laws?
Take his licence off him, and where did he get the money to buy that car? INVESTIGATE

Or

So what, the police must have said something to make him act like that. I've been stopped many times by the police, sometimes the officers are polite and everything goes fine. Sometimes they are arrogant, cocky smartarses who think cus they have a police badge means they can talk to u anyway they want.

The old man was scared after they punctured his tyres, and one of the coppers mite have been the one in the MOT incident so he might have thought they had a vendetta against him.

The old could be part of the Welsh gangsta mafia innit.

Although the police were a touch heavy handed, it does seem some facts are missing from that BBC item.

The police were a little OTT but the driver in question had driven away from the police in the first place, then they chased after him for 17 mins with their sirens and lights going. He didnt stop even though they were tailing him for 17 mins with the blues and twos going because he thought they were "giving him an escort home", he only came to a stop when stingers were deployed and also had an illegal licence plate. I mean lets face it, if I was in the police and some guy I had stopped drives off and then refuses to stop despite me being behind him with my lights going for almost 20 mins then I would be somewhat suspicious too :)

(just in case anyone wondered, this wasnt a doddering old man in a little fiesta, he was driving a £60k range rover, not that it makes a difference other than maybe the image in the readers head)

The police were still heavy handed but its not quite the clear and cut "case" that the BBC have presented.

That definitely puts a different light on it - Still quite heavy handed but a little less wierd than when I first saw the article :p

Are you stupid. He obviously drove off because he thought they'd dealt with him, genuine mistake (look at how old he is) and instead of flashing him down or following him with there cars the pieces of ***** thought it was a good idea to smash his windscreen and his driver side window and then drag him out the car.

I wonder how youd feel if it was your grandad.

But I dont expect any better from you, you always defend police/government in whatever they do. If you was a german in ww2 youd try to defend the holocaust, fix up kid.

I don't think the police's reaction was over aggressive, the chap drove off and had to be forced to stop, I think there's an attitude problem in that Wayne Rover.

I'm continually disappointed that the police have no idea how to smash a car's window, hit it in the corner you birk!

lol at MrLOL you know they can block off cars. They can even block off cars with bicycles when they want to...

lol the story just gets worse and worse. The sad thing is that gullible fools will read the articles, take them on face value and think the Police were acting inappropriately.

I did find it suspicious that the article in the Metro referred to the seatbelt issue "among other offences". Clearly that covered a multitude of sins.

Erm, the car was chased and then he stopped. I mean you would expect them to block off the vehicle so he cant go anywhere. It's happened to me for far less.

lmao here comes helmet with the church brigade and sins. just gets better. :D

lol @ the metro

he's not just any OAP he's a disabled OAP !!

http://www.metro.co.uk/news/837231-police-smash-in-disabled-drivers-car-over-seatbelt-offence

Gotta love this bit

A disabled motorist was left terrified when police smashed his car windows and dragged him out – for driving without a seatbelt.

yes thats entirely the reason they smashed his windows.

Nothing at all to do with running over a police officer, being on the run for 17 minutes and only stopping when the stinger was deployed. And even then, not openning the door and refusing to co-operate with police.

climbing on the bonnet of a car of someone you believe is going to drive off is a regular technique?

****ing hell surprising more of the tards don't get their brains crushed under a wheel.

Read again, that's not what burnsy said at all.

Wouldn't it be easier for the police to have one of those little emergency window hammers (or a centre punch style one) than smacking at it with a baton for half an hour?

Walk up to window >tap with hammer/click with punch > window is gone.

They do, but it'd most likely be in the boot of the car. A police officer can't possibly carry every bit of equipment they might need on them.

Personally, based only on what's been released so far (that is, not the full story by any means), the level of force used by police comes across as unjustified. That being said, I don't for a second believe that the man innocently believed the police had finished dealing with him or that they were giving an escort (they'd be in front if that were the case!), so he's either blatantly lying, or senile and confused, in which case a massive Range Rover perhaps isn't the best choice of car for him.
