Jesus Christ! Don't forget to put your seat belts on!

Are you talking about the video or something before that.

this was before the video the first time he stopped

the video shows the second time he stopped and the reason they were so aggressive was BECAUSE they had stopped him before but he drove off hitting a police officer in the process.

So 'lol' is an insult now but calling people 'kids' isn't?

Do you ever wonder why no one takes you seriously B&W?

Maybe he is just having a bad day? Perhaps his dad took his car off him for being too fast again? Or maybe the poor guy was the victim of another armed car jacking? Cut him some slack!

You got a problem with me mate, i suggest you email me (trust) otherwise im gonna report you to the mods mate.

Thought he's been dealt with and needed his medication? What a load of bull.

Sounds more like this pretencious old codger showed no respect for the penalty he was being given and the officers giving it and thinking he was above the law drove away because the fine was beneath him. I hope they scared the crap out of him and maybe he'll show some respect and follow basic laws next time.

That would be unfair of you, I was only offering some possible reasons why you are being nasty to other posters in this thread :(

Shock is a recognized method of preventing someone driving off for a second time.

It's a shame that others don't recognise this.

There is more to the story than what the BBC report. The two cops have been removed from frontline policing in the meantime while an investigation goes on.

On a different note folks, can the mud slinging end please before it gets out of hand ? It so often ruins a good debate.

You obviously know little about policing. It's a regularly known and used distraction technique for motorists who are believed to have a high risk of driving away (and thus putting officers in close proximity into danger). Admittedly, kicking the windscreen is not part of this technique and I would say was rather silly.

It's obvious that there is more to this story than is reported, so I can't make a judgement to whether it is justified or not.

It would seem that the Chief Inspector who suspended the two Policemen obviously knows little about policing also. As he shared my sentiment in a statement of their unacceptable behaviour.

Jumping on an elderly mans landrover and kicking in the windscreen is not a regularly used distraction technique.

As much as I respect the Police and the job they do, in this instance the two Policemen where wrong whichever way you cut it. They knew from their earlier detainment of the man in question that he was not an immediate threat to their safety.

it is entirely normal for police officers to be suspended from duty pending a IPCC enquiry.

If the enquiry finds them innocent they will be re-instated.

Stop reading into things that because they have been suspended they have already been found guilty of misconduct. They havent.

lol ? have you read any of this thread. He's known to police for being argumentative and obstructive and hostile to police before. He nearly ran one of them over, failed to stop and was on the run for over 17 minutes.

He'd already been stopped and drove off prior to this, smashing the windows to stop him doing it again is entirely normal !! the windscreen was smashed to obscure his vision and stop him being able to drive. It totally is normal in circumstances like this.

Scaring people to follow laws, hold up we do live in a democracy dont we?

Is that the same as teachers? If an enquiry happens on them.

its the same for any employer.

Its normal practice to suspend somebody pending a formal disciplinary hearing over something serious. All the IT firms i've worked for have this policy.

If they suspect you of gross misconduct or anything serious, you will be suspended on full pay, then brought in for a disciplinary hearing at a later date once an enquiry has been done.

They do, but it'd most likely be in the boot of the car. A police officer can't possibly carry every bit of equipment they might need on them.

But they're traffic police presumably breaking car windows is expected to happen, the hammers/punches are tiny things that can go in any cubby hole in the front of the car (and are where you're meant to keep them, they're pretty useless in the trunk when you need them to get out :p)

It's a shame that others don't recognise this.

But standing on the bonnet?

That's just asking for trouble, if the guy had occidentally gone forwards (or deliberately) the officer would be at a huge risk.

its to obscure the view out of the windscreen, preventing him from being able to see where he's going if he drives off again (for the 3rd time it would have been)

Looks like your average traffic stop to me...Except there was no tazers involved and the police didn't claim he was a terrorist afterwards.

Aye, though the next step was to fire a few rounds into his head

justified because he was known to be argumentative and obstructive
