Hi everyone I'm building my Krypton Extreme Intel Core i7 930 2.80GHz @ 4.20GHz Overclocked Bundle (upgraded motherboard) and it came to connecting all the power cables and as this being my first build I'm reading through the manual.
It's says connect the 24 pin connector which ive done and then says connect the 8-pin EATX12V power plugs, the PSU doesnt have then unless its the PCIE connectors which I thought not. But the part that is really confusing me now is theres 1 8-pin and directly below theres a 4-pin and it looks like another 4-pin covered up

Does anyone know what PSU I will need to get these connections, I know that the Corsair HX850watt has one and you can get an adapter but can you get the from OCUK.

Thanks in advance (as I'm about to pull my hair out)

What PSU do you have?

The 8 pin socket will accept both 4 pin and 8 pin (one side is covered).
A lot of PSU's have eith or both. Sometimes the 4 pins clip off so they can be used on a different motherboard.

The PSU I borrowed is a OCZ model no. OCZGXS850

Well my mobo has an 8-pin and 4-pin(one side covered up) but in the manual it only lists them as 8-pin even on the diagram.

Thanks for the repsonse:D

Did you buy the bundle from overclockers as I'm considering getting the same one but I was wondering does it come already setup? (Cpu in motherboard and cpu fan installed?)

Just plug in the 8 pin.

I think the other might be for using mutliple mega power supplies and multiple mega graphics cards.
I would imagine it would be OK with just 1 x 8pin if it doesnl;t nention using both speicifically.

I bought an i7 X58A-UD3R bundle from Ocuk 3 weeks ago,
You get the motherboard with CPU and RAM already installed. The cooler is sent out in its retail packaging, which you have to install yourself. Its too heavy / unweildy to ship completely assembled. I went for the H50. Full instructions are included in the cooler box anyway!

I thought it would be as well but apparently both must be plugged in from what Ive read on the web

now that looks like a rampage 3 to me.

now ive not read about these in any great detail, but i am 99% certain that you only need one of the plugs in. As this is an enthusiast board, the second one is there should you fancy pouring some liquid nitrogen on there, and hence needing much more power for the cpu.

and that 4pin block looks like a dummy plug to me (ie, it can be removed)

Yes I did, It comes with RAM and CPU installed but the heatsink is not.

Well I've just had another fiddle and it is a dummy plug, so thank you very much.

What PSU would anyone recommend my budget is at the very maximum 200

People do use the board with only one 8 pin connector. The second 8 (4+4) connector is only used when you need more power for extreme overclocking (LN2) and benchmarking.

We do have a Rampage III Extreme thread if you need more help. :)
