Jesus Christ! Don't forget to put your seat belts on!

I think 2 officers went a little OTT, but overall I think the response was the correct one. They are to take their own safety ahead of anything else, and getting the car like they did is the best way of stopping the man AND making sure they are safe.

The people saying they were in the wrong would probably say they were wrong also if they were more relaxed like they are saying, and then the man got away.

Non-story, the police officers doing their job, and getting slated for it.

People need to grow up, me thinks.

He hasnt just gang raped an old peoples home, whilst being high on crack with the proceeds from his morning mugging has he?

You know that now, with hindsight. How could they possibly have known that at the time? All they knew was that he had taken off when stopped for a trivial offence.

He is an old guy calming driving home obeying all traffic laws

Which traffic laws say you dont pull over for police?

The very fact they are suspended tells you all you need to know doesnt it??

Err ALL officers are suspended when a complaint is made, whether its true or not! They are suspended THEN it is investigated. Not the other way round!

OK I accept some of the things you guys are saying...

but lets break it down further...

All he did wrong was the failing to stop.

Are you suggesting that anyone who commits the henious and shockingly dangerous crime of failing to stop should have a copper jumping on their bonnet and their windscreen panned in? And be dragged from their car like a US cop show?

Why cant people see motoring regulations for what they are?

Its not like you have just punched a police officer in the face.

Anyway, he DID stop, he just drove off a little early!

Yes, if they've almost knocked a copper over and then driven for 17 minutes without stopping.

Honestly, with people like yourself and Groen around its not surprising this country's in the state it is:rolleyes:.

edit - and would there have been all this fuss if this had been a 20 year old male instead of this old git? No-one would have batted an eyelid in that situation.

If necessary, which is a lot of cases it will be, then yes.

Why cant people see motoring regulations for what they are?

What, laws that should be obeyed?

Anyway, he DID stop, he just drove off a little early!

And then failed to stop.

All he did wrong was the failing to stop.

and had illegally tinted windows
and had illegaly spaced number plate
and wasnt wearing a seatbelt
and he tried to run a police officer over
and he's previously been stopped with no MOT / insurance and been found guilty by magistrates of obstructing police AND abusing police.

Anyway, he DID stop, he just drove off a little early!

only when they deployed a stinger !!!

Do you know the difference between real life and tv?
The police are charged with protecting people (despite what the media/tin foil hat wearers say)the old man has commited a crime he was stopped, Didn't like the petty-full fine and drove off. The moment he drove off and refused to stop he put other drivers and pedestrians in danger, who did the cops know he wasn't off his medication?? The action they took was justified, people on this forum are making out that the police dragged him from the car beat him unconscious then feed him to a giraffe...
All they did was smash a couple of windows on a failure to stop driver, something that is actually in the police guide lines and regulations. Tango do you honestly believe this would have made the news if their wasn't some horrid disaster that somehow effected the people in this country? Most likely not, its is a non story blown up by the media to sell news to people, who actively follow every word like sheep over the nearest cliff.

Thinking back its been a while since something was linked to cancer, maybe next week.

For 17 minutes, while the police had their lights and sirens going. That is ridiculous. He also had an illegal plate and illegally tinted windows, had been in trouble moments before for not wearing a seatbelt and nearly running an officer over, and has a history with the police (that's rozzers to you, apparently).

That depends on whether they've failed to stop for 17 minutes, while the police had their lights and sirens going, while driving a car with an illegal plate and illegally tinted windows, having been in trouble moments before for not wearing a seatbelt and nearly running an officer over, and having a history with the police (still the rozzers).

They're not motoring regulations, except in the loosest sense of the word. Section 163 of the Road Traffic Act 1988 reads as follows:

The law said:
163. Power of police to stop vehicles.—
(1) A person driving a [mechanically propelled vehicle] on a road must stop the vehicle on being required to do so by a constable in uniform [or a traffic officer].
(2) A person riding a cycle on a road must stop the cycle on being required to do so by a constable in uniform [or a traffic officer].
(3) If a person fails to comply with this section he is guilty of an offence.

That's a logical fallacy of some kind, but without Dolph here, I couldn't tell you which one.

Just in case some are in any doubt

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...ndow-smashed-OAP-dragged-police-officers.html

Mr Whatley was found guilty of:

not wearing a seatbelt,
failing to stop for a police officer and
having tinted car windows which did not conform to legal requirements but cleared of failing to stop after an accident.
He also admitted having a registration plate which did not adhere to regulations.
He was fined £235 with £300 costs.

and

A court heard yesterday that Mr Whatley, right, was originally pulled over in a country lane in Monmouthshire by traffic police who tried to issue him with a fine for not wearing a seat belt.
But when an officer went round to the passenger side, the car lurched forward and he was knocked over.

So they stop him. One officer goes to drivers window, gives him a dressing down. Other officer goes to passenger side, he drives off, hitting the police officer in the process.

How can you claim you though the cops were finished when you need to knock one of them over to move away ?

Bet the copper that jumped on the bonnet was the one he tried to run over. I'd be ****ed if some fool tried to run me over.

It also doesn't state that he had knocked a police officer over while being chased.

I thought it was blatantly obvious why they didn't mention that, also why they gave the old git the status of "disabled", If the title read the truth of " police stop old sennial git after attempting to run-down a police officer" they wouldn't be able to stir up the idiots into action.
Plus it is the dailmail, cant we have it added to the swear word blocker.

cant wait for follow up article, "badly traumatised disabled pensioner granted compensation after suffering horrific abuse" etc etc

typical police making a mountain out of a molehill, just because they can. bigheaded power abusing ****'s :)

yehhhhh boi!!! **** da POLISE!!!11! PIGS LOL!!!

 Haven't you got a youtube video to go and comment on or something?
