Samsung Galaxy S... highest spec Android phone released... also with QWERTY!

Ooh. Can you get one of those for HTC Desire?

Looks like it adds quite a bit of bulk though...

Does a pretty good job of protecting the screen which is my main concern. Very stiff front flap, you can't bend it. Nothing is going to knock the screen easily with this on. Adds about 2mm on each side and about 6mm overall to the thickness.

ok N00b question I'm sure but.

Got this phone yesterday, Its my first android phone and I'm loving it, however... How can I move my widgets around? I've set a few up on the home screen but I don't like the position they are in, for instance I want to centralise the clock and have my stocks in rows instead of columns.

Not sure if its the same on this phone as the rest, but keep your figure on the widget in question, and it will then release so you can move it around.

Been looking at the lag fix, and the best method appears to be an updated Kernel... JM2?

If I flash a new kernal, I take it i would then have to restore my backups from titanium to get settings and apps etc back....?

Whats the best official kernal, Stable? is it still JM2? im so confused, should I just wait for Froyo release, or would the firmware require updating for that anyway???

Check out the xda development forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=665

Should provide some answers.

Guys does this sound normal for battery usage?
I charge overnight, unplug at around 07.30AM and my battery usually reaches about 50% by 2pm with little or no use on the phone at all. I have used task killer, and only have facebook, twitter, rssfeed reader running and use the music player for 35mins on the train to work. By 2pm it reaches about 55%, is this normal?

seems abit high , get rid of the task killer they are not needed . see what happens after that .

If that fails try deleting the battery status file if your rooted

The Task Killer only runs on my command so I don't think thats the issue (it's never running in the background). Not rooted either. What about if I let my battery run till it's completely dead and try a full charge?

turn of 3g networking when you are not useing it, and set the screen brightness to minimum.

That will roughly double your battery life alone.

Will that still allow gTalk to work as normal? And the other apps like facebook? Also will the lag fix void my warranty? Is there any good guides?

Whats the best firmware to install when rooting? Also does rooting remove all your installed apps and data and stuff?

Edit: Can someone please also tell me how to turn on gmail push instead of having it syncing all the time? Thanks

Download the app Switch Pro - it allows you have a widget of up to 7 buttons which turn on/off your wifi/bluetooth/3g/brightnes/syncing etc. I find it really useful.

Here's the easiest way to root your phone: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=728754. This way of rooting doesn't remove any apps/data. Rooting basically means you just give yourself super administrator rights.

Also, I'm a big fan of autokiller. Despite its name it's actually a memory management app that allows you to re-adjust the memory thresholds at which apps get closed. You can adjust the values both manually and with preset profiles.

I believe GMail is push by standard, unless you set it up as a pop3 account and have it sync at a set point.

Well you could look at the battery useages but taht seems like a lot, I basically do the same thing mininus the rssfeed and twitter but i play around 30mins+ of games by 2pm and i normally have 80-90% battery still left, i normally get around 65-50 before i sleep at around 2am and then next day at around 8-11pm I will normally hit the 15% mark. Over that time i would use the screen for arounf 4-5 hours so i guess thats not too light of a useage. I turn off the 3g unless i need it, basically all night long i have 3g off, and i turn it on when i wanna download something/ go on the web or facebook.
