loads of 5770's for sale recently

Do standard gpu only blocks not fit them? Used to run my 4850 (similar power use) with one, with custom made vrm sinks (chopped up socket 7 heatsink), normal ram skinks and a near silent spotfan.

I dont see the point of a £60+ waterblock on a £120 card. Reusable standard GPU block and reusable ram sinks for that sort of mid range power card.

Nope. The mounting holes are only 61mm diagonally instead of the normal 72mm+. No way i was going to buy a full cover block for it that cost's half the price of the card. Full cover blocks are a waste of money in my opinion. I have had my Aquaextreme MP-1 for five years now and it's been on 6 different cards.

Watercooled a pair of them with zalman gpu blocks, low temps made sod all difference to clocking, sold the cards, blocks into my spares box and grabbed a 5870 :) sold them for the same price I paid for them on release day lol.

I got hold of one of those cheap. Took it to bit's and was horrified to find that the inside diameter of the swivelling barb was only 3mm at it's base. Could'nt change the barbs to something that would suit my loop either.

Changed my 5770 to a 460. Haven't noticed any performance differences but the 460 is much quieter, runs cooler even clocked and my system is more stable with the 460.

I am looking at buying a 460, but does anyone suggest getting a 5770 being as they are going cheaper nowadays?

I currently have a 8600GT so any upgrade is an improvement.

If your budget is around 120 then go for a 5770 if you have about 200 quid you could get a 1GB giga 460.

5770 is an amazing card but obv if you got a lil more to spend you can get the 460 which is a bit better.

If I had £200 though wouldnt a 5830 be the obvious choice?
Or is the 460 still better?

I actually dont have any money so its a matter of saving, meaning I can pretty much get any it just means I will have to wait longer.

I went from my 5770 to 5850. The 5850 is close to double the performance for me :)

I looked into it and I think I might just save and shell out the bit extra for a 5850 as a lot of people are saying they much better than even the 5770, as you lot did.
Thanks for the help guys

5830 is a piece of poo.

What he said.

I had a 1GB 5830 and now have a 1GB 460. I can now play Crysis on Very High (1920x1080) and it rarely ever drops below 30fps regardless of what I'm doing.

With the 5830 it would drop to mid to low 20's when shooting a gun! LOL
