Why is Racism Unacceptable but Homophobia is Acceptable?

You can't choose your race.

You can choose your sexuality.

This beith the reason.

(I have not read the whole thread because it was far too long)

Read the thread (that was resurrected for some reason, long after I had owned all the idiot homophobes and they had fled, never to come back ) and realise why you too are an idiot for thinking this way.

The debate has been had, the people who thought along your lines were made to look stupid, hth.

I'm not telling you that it's right or wrong.

Just that it's the reason.

Homosexuals do not choose their sexuality though... so you would have been better embraced if you put something like

"Idiots think that people choose their sexuality", although why, even if they did, that makes it OK to discriminate in their eyes is beyond me. (it isn't beyond me, it is because they are ****'s)

I was making a comment on society.

It wasn't a comment that I believe in.

You expressed it as fact/your opinion, not as society's opinion...which largely in here has proven that the statement is in fact incorrect.

So get off your pink covered high horses please.

As for this, grow up. Just because some people understand why others are homosexual does not mean they themselves are and indeed does not warrant insults of that sort.

Discrimination will ALWAYS exist where there's difference.

Racism is becoming unacceptable because it's easier to understand that discriminating against something that people have no control over is wrong.

Whether or not you 'know' that homosexuality is not a choice is irrelevant. Society have to first understand that and then stop the discrimination. A much harder thing to do because it is not something so obvious as colour of skin.

And if you'd all taken a moment to think about my comment rather than jump on the politically correct warrior bandwagon...

Heck, in most of the world women are still being discriminated and not considered human beings or full citizens!

You think homosexuals have it bad?

(lays bait)

And if you take a moment to read my post in full you will see that I showed you where you went wrong in stating an opinion that you yourself did not have, and went on to demonstrate how you should have phrased it to avoid ridicule. It's got nothing to do with being on a PC bandwagon, PC isn't simply not being homophobic or not being racist, that called just being a decent person.

I too think making a stupid statement that makes me look like an idiot is "laying bait", hahaha, wont it be hilarious when someone calls you out on such a rubbish post that you yourself already know is a rubbish point. How people will role on the floor laughing at such genius comedy.

OMG this stupid thread is still going on. These trolls make these threads and run away in the background.

What is this thread about now anyway?

'kinell. I missed an epic thread whilst on holiday!

Why do we have single sex toilets anyway?
and

There's a boat bar in Bristol that has mixed toilets and it's fine as all the cubicles are enclosed.

I like the thought that there might be a pretty little thing in the next cubicle having to listen to be sweating and shaking while I pinch one off.

It kind of turns me on.
are Sig worthy!

Gay couples can have a civil partnership.

Marriage is a sacred matrimonial, don't blame society if a 2000+ year old organisation doesn't suddenly want to change their rules for you.

The Christian church did not manage to gain total power over marriage until just a few hundred years ago, and that didn't last.

In Britain (and probably elsewhere) marriage was not religious in the past and it isn't religious in the present. It was only religious for a relatively short period of time. Prior to that and also in the present, religion was and is an optional extra to marriage.

I think officially calling it a partnership instead of a marriage is a useful practical step solely because it made it far easier to change the law, but marriage isn't really religious.

To be fair marriage wasn't originally anything to do with religion (it was a civil thing that was coopted by religion) and doesn't have to be anything to do with religion if you don't want it to be (many people get married with no religious connection at all). Which sort of invalidates your well thought out and intelligent comment...

Not quite true.

The formal Christian Wedding vows date from 1552, to which I assume you are refering, but although prior to this Weddings were more informal and a more practical financial agreement between families, although the marriage was a common law or free marriage the actual religious or spiritual ceremony to celebrate afterward in whatever guise predates Rome and Ancient Greece.

The Church got involved around the ninth century and from the 12th century onward it has evolved into the church controlled entity of recent history.
