The Summer

London's been disgustingly hot and sunny for most of the past few months, I don't think for the majority of July it dipped below 20C and there was barely any rain including as said none to affect the whole of Wimbledon. I'd happily have traded you a few overcast days for the sunshine and heat here.

Yes, and the Tube was hideous this morning. Little air to breathe, and the humidity was disgusting.

I quite disagree, it's been fabulous in London, bar the last couple of days.

From June till now the weather's been fantastic in London. :)

Then again I drive and don't take public transport so have been enjoying it more than most Londoners, and I love hot weather

Off to Cyprus soon though for some proper hot weather  :D

Have you had hosepipe bans this year?

You mean 'fake that our reservoirs are running low, ban the usage of a hosepipe but still charge people full price for water' ban? :D

As far as weather pretty decent from end of May really, shame now its started to rain :(

12 degrees the temperature thingy in the car said this morning when I got in! TWELVE!

I do thank god though that Glasto was dry and hot, being there in the wet would not have been fun.

Oh and as I look out of the office window, it's just started raining again. The summers been alright, it's had it's nice moments, but a couple more weeks of lovely sunshine would be nice. :)

Goodness me, people seem to forget they live in England, a country famed for its rain!

We had a lovely June, mostly lovely July - August may have been a wash out so far, but it's only the 10th today!!

Seeing all the parched grassy patches around, the ground could do with a soaking.

We've certainly not suffered the summers of the past 2-3 years where somewhere has become famously flooded each time (Carlisle, Boscastle, Tewkesbury, Glastonbury festival, etc.).

Occasionally the UK gets one of those all-out summers, I remember a couple of long hot 'Indian' summers when I was 7 or 8 (am 26 now), certainly remember a surprise opening of the local open-air pool at the end of March when I was about 12 and it briefly hit 27'C, and I think 2003 was stupidly hot (I was working all that summer, spent most of it in air-conned offices, but the journey there and back in the car was horrible). These summers aren't normal for the UK, they're occasional, maybe even rare.

Just enjoy the good spots while they are here :)

Since living in the south, I've noticed summers to be generally much better than up north. Every time I visit Liverpool, it's generally crappy weather. That said, this year hasn't been fantastic down south, which is a shame. Hoping the summers in Germany are better when I move out there lol.

It's been scorching over here, not as many thunderstorms as previous years though and the last couple weeks have been cooler.

its been alreeet here. loads better than last couple of years when it just rained all summer

i think i actually got a suntan in may/june

I would say it has been a much better summer that the last 2.

Definitely.

In the East we've had lovely weather for the past couple of months now. It's only in the last week or so it's started to cool down a bit and rain.

How a summer should be tbh!

I think we have had a week so far this summer where it was very hot around 28oC

rest of this year has been crap.

People say this every year. People just have a distorted view of when our good weather is.

April and may is more than likely good weather. With the end of may and beginning of June, being extremely hot(hitting 29 degrees).
July/august is always warm, but hit and miss.
End of august start of September we get the nice weather back.

It was a pretty good summer around these parts, we had two-three weeks of really hot sun, sandwiched by mostly clear skies and gentle breezes. It's definitely been a lot better than prior years.

Of course, what goes up...

Possibly there's a lot of skewed attitudes to the summer because our school holidays (and hence often when families in general take time off work) are basically August. If August happens not to be fantastic, it's apparently a crap summer.

Also - June can indeed be wonderful, but it's marred for a lot of younguns by exams, so it rather passes by without being enjoyed.

I'm off to Sweden for the latter half of August - often it's hit-and-miss there too - but usually we manage to outrun the clouds by heading out into the archipelago :D
