Petrol Vs. Diesel

I would not want a cheap lpg conversion on a new or nearly new car!

Nothing cheap with mine.

It conforms to COP 11 standard of the LPGA.

If you pay 2K then you are a fool.

Looks like it's the Petrol then!!! Thank you all for your help....although I do think the LPG conversion idea is barmy given I'm looking around 07 plates, and these would still be in warrenty!

Absolutely has to be diesel really, you'd be potty to consider anything else. Loads of MPG and fantastic amounts of torque at the flywheel to really give you performance motoring. The lower mileage you do the better a diesel is for you.

The dealer is right, the diesel loves short trips and you'll never have any problems with clogging up the DPF. Why would you want a horrible petrol one for town driving?

and sales people NEVER lie

When I sold Toyota's I was actually told to be very specific about this, IE sell them the right car not once did they try to make me sell diesels over petrols for profit etc

Also, he was being sarcastic

the VAG 2 litre turbo petrol is a cracking engine right across their range of cars

I have it in my skoda and it can be frugal if you want it to be...I see 42mpg on a long run up to aberdeen with the cruise control on

it has decent torque and will pull well in all gears even from low down the rev range.

I do like the diesel as well and the CR engine is a lot better than then PD engine it replaced and when its combined with the DSG box its a nice easy to use set up, but as with most diesel engines it has a narrow rev range and so you loose any involvement when driving the car..its just doesnt feel right to me

Really? 42mpg?! Have you had it remapped? I thought you were lucky to get 35mpg combined out of it...

The 2.0 TSFI does seem impressive but realistically to achive those figures you would have to sit on a motorway as frugal as possible, its the extreme end of its economy figures but still impressive

in order to get a combined figure of 35 it must be capable of over 40? Combined is a combined figure!

Good lord...you're right, sorry Fox. No sleep last couple of nights :(

I like some of the BS made up by people trying to justify diesels. It makes me laugh :)

Anything in particular? I liked the silly LPG conversion idea personally :)
