***Official***Smashing Southern Meet (Hampshire Meet Mk V)

Cheers, but it really isn't going to be much special - I've got in the rut of using it as my daily and I haven't done nearly as much as I wanted to do :(.

As for the wheels, I'm trying to keep things subtle ;). The Supra 17" alloys can very, very easily pass as standard, they're light, wide (8.5 front, 9.5 rear), the right offset, clear the brakes I want to run and cost peanuts (I picked a set of 3 with tyres for £50!). If I ever went with a set of expensive wheels it'd have to be a set of Advan SA3Rs, 18" in Bronze, or Gold mesh BBS'.

Good lord don't get 3 spokes! I think they look incredibly gash unless it's a smaller fitment on a dinky car

I went with a similar route to you and bought some OEM rims for my car because they were cheap and I liked them, it's just a shame they aren't as wide as I would like :( Oh well after suspension and brakes they will change anyway no doubt!

Fraud is obtaining funds (or services) by deception.

You are applying for an insurance policy during which you almost always agree that its either your car, or you are the registered keeper - either way, you must have an insurable interest in the car and if it isnt your car, you don't really have that. Secondly, you are giving those details in return for the provision of 1 years insurance. The insurance is offered to you on the basis of this covering being for 1 year.

The cancellation period is therefore because UK law requires it.

If you take out insurance on a car that does not belong to you and you do not have any insurable interest in with the intention of cancelling this policy within the 14 day period in order to obtain very low cost or free temporary insurance, this is fraud - you have provided the insurer with your intentions and circumstances and they have offered a policy, yet your real intentions and circumstances are different.

If you called them and explained you wished to have insurance for a single day, they would either:

a) Quote you for a different type of policy
b) Refuse to offer you insurance.

Pretending its yours and taking out a full policy to cancel it later is there to get round this, there is no other reason.

I see what you are saying, although this would only really apply in the event that the policy does require you to be the owner/registered keeper of the vehicle, which in every case I have come accross certainly is a question they ask, although I have always answered the question as yes, since it has always been true ...weather or not it wouldchange things if you said no, I don't know. I assume it does then.

In practical terms, if you are taking out "temporary" insurance or insurance for a short period of time, you can change the owner/keeper (if required by the insurance certificate) retrospectively if and when you need to make a claim.

You can also lie about other things, too.

Hmmm, not sure how clean my car is following the short notice news that I now have to do a total of 1500 miles the week of the meet

How do you know it does though if nobody is around to hear it?

A widely accepted scientific theory, not fact.

Off course it's fact. Otherwise all the formulae derived, all the research, all our understanding of everything that exists will not true - which just isn't true.

My car drives itself to the local Londis and gets tanked up on Vodka when I'm asleep. I know this is true because I'm not there to see it.
