Groom accidentally kills wedding guests

How could you possibly lose control in such a way that you kill several people and injure many more. How?

He probably had the weapon in the air in one hand, had it on auto and squeezed the trigger hard, not accounting for the recoil and then the shock of losing control of the weapon probably kept his finger pressed for a second or two on the trigger.

Truly mental to have a weapon at a wedding in the first place though.

Wow, and I felt bad when I spilled a drop of wine on my new father-in-law's shirt at my wedding.

I haven't read the thread fully, but I'm going to take a shot in the dark and say that most people found it quite hilarious.

It really does sound like the groom needs a clip around ear hole.

Hopefully some jokes involving this situation will start doing the rounds.

Looks like he's given the media all the ammo they need for this one.

?? :D

Perhaps the idiot spotted a leeds united fan in the crowd, they enjoy killing us.

Who doesn't?

Edit:

It doesn't bode well for his wife either, shooting his load that early...

Bad jokes.

Take them and pistol off.

;)

I watched a friend who was not to familiar with guns fire off a pump 12 gauge once and lose control of it. The gun flew out of his hands and landed back behind him about 5 meters away. Recoil is stronger than most people think, and if you are not prepared for it, then look out.

Reading that and this thread reminds me of a timeless youtube video.

Hows that?

Does it just need hardly any pressure to cycle then?

Blanks are designed to emit enough force to operate the blow-back needed for semis and autos :)

I've used an AK with blanks before (in the fun-sized airforce aka cadets), and it had no problems. It wasn't modified/deactivated in anyway (though I wouldn't want to use any firearm with live ammo after it has been used with blanks!)

Likewise for all the ones used in films etc. :)

He was probably holding it up in the air with one hand and lost control or something equally dumb (not that firing an automatic weapon into the air at a wedding isn't dumb in itself anyway)

You sure it wasn't a film style blank firer with a much narrower barrel/barrel section to provide the increased pressure?

Also an ak is gas operated not blow back operated.

Tradition ok i get that.

But why not load the gun with blanks?

It can't be that traditional - I'm sure that marriages have been around for centuries in Turkey - the AK47 was only invented a few decades ago.

Claiming this immensely stupid act to be 'tradition' is like claiming that going to an ex soviet block country for a stag weekend and banging a hooker is 'tradition' for British grooms.
