Why is Racism Unacceptable but Homophobia is Acceptable?

Well as you're technically a woman to begin with, it's possible something happens in the womb (possibly combined wit genetics) that prevents part of your brain changing/forming as it should.

Controversial Tefal, you are technically stating that Homosexuality is a birth defect.

How does that explain all the Lezzers.

A serious question to the people posting so passionately about homosexuality not being a choice - Are you gay?

Just wondering because if not, then how can you be so sure about this point?

(I'm guessing it's due to something you've read)

I have a number of gay friends, 2 of the couples are married.

None of them made an active choice, they just found themselves physically attracted to men.

Genetic preference, just like you can't control what tastes, colours or sounds you like, you just like what you like.

No I'm not gay (not posting passionately but has followed the thread)

I know all different kinds of people that are homosexual. One of my best friends especially. She told me she was lesbian when we were around 15. She was already bullied and talked bad about to a point where she was depressed. She didn't exactly think "Oh, I'll just become a lesbian too to make things even worse". Know a lesbian couple, been together for 15 years (since they both were 16), Married gay couple in their forties, both gay their whole life however one of them covered it up for some years. Several others..

And like mentioned above me, it's just like any other preference. Can you put an exact reason why you like the things you do? Including women?

Agreed entirely. It is just like any other preference, however (and this is not necessarily my opinion) as any preference there will be people who dislike it - so surely that's justified? Why do some prefer blondes to brunettes etc? People have a choice, and people can choose not to like something as well. :)

But thinking someone who doesn't like blondes is sick or deserving of verbal/physical abuse would not be tolerated.

I guess not, then again some of the standards members on this forum, in terms of women I'd find it hard to believe there's that much vitriol towards a poof anyway, most of it is just talk. I hope it is, otherwise it is a sad state of affairs.

Whilst I find them completely innocuous and don't really bother or affect me, I can't help but finding it "wrong". It doesn't offend me that 2 people love one another. I just don't think about it too much as I'm too busy worrying about more important things though. It's a relative non issue for me really. :)

Everyone is entitled to their opinion of course. But like krooton said, it's not a free card to be abusive towards someone with a different idea.

Well, I would say people like something until they are turned away from it for whatever reason like getting sick of it, getting to know new facts and change point of view, bad memories, you get it :) You still see/do/hear/taste/whatever something and like it until something turns you away from it (if it does)

I's pretty open-minded and I don't mind people finding it wrong. I can think of a lot of things I find wrong but I still haven't got any right to say what people can and cannot do. Except when of course, it's something harmful.

I'm straight but I imagine gay people feel about kissing women the same way I and other straight men feel about kissing other men. I didn't choose to feel that way about kissing men or women and therefore I assume neither did they.

Oh absolutely, like I said, I have more important things to worry about in life, and as you say it doesn't cause me or any one i know any harm so no problems there.

I have to say I feel a bit guilty for this but I do feel a little concerned at how accepted and "normal" it's become. I know I shouldn't, I know it's not a problem and doesn't affect me, but I find it just... uncomfortable, that it's deemed normal. It's wrong of me I'm not trying to justify my slight prejudice - but I guess I have a bit of an old fashioned mind set that, men and women work well together and that should be considered "regular" and that gay should be considered "alternative".

I know it's close minded, but I can't help feel the way I do. I find the fact that people openly go on about being gay irritating, I find the fact that a big fuss about gay "marriage" is a farce as I consider marriage to be something only men and women can do the list goes on... I don't want to see 2 blokes snogging one another.

I know I know, I'm a dinosaur, and I'm sorry for having this opinion - it's just the way I feel.

I do not, under any circumstance have anything agaist gay people, in fact I have a couple of lesbian and gay friends, and they are great people no different to anyone. This is where I'm conflicted, as I don't really care that they are gay, but it's more of an "out of sight, out of mind" aspect I guess.

I'm just being honest - I guess what I'm saying is, "I don't care if you're gay, I just don't want to know about it or see it...".

I have to say i feel much the same as you FF...you have put it in a much better way than i could have:)

The problem with this is why should they have to keep it behind closed doors or hide it just because you don't want to see it?

Would they have the same right to not want to see hetero couples being openly hetero?

And whilst the thought of men kissing may disgust you, I doubt you have much problem with women doing it, so hot lesbian porn is the same level of "wrong" as gay men kissing, but almost all straight men love it.

I'm not saying I'm right, I'm just saying how I feel. :)

To be honest, I don't really mind seeing couples snogging, I'd rather they didn't do it inches from me, but it doesn't cause a stir of uncomfortableness.

As for hot lesbians, well I'm a bloke and I like girls so clearly it's going to be more interesting - but the lesbians I know aren't particular lookers ;) Furthermore, I find straight porn much more interesting (honest truth) as I can relate to it better :)

iirc the research shows that gay mens brains have certain areas tht resemble/act like women brains more than mens (ad vis versa for gay women)

How does that explain all the Lezzers.

I think they said it was partly due to hormones produced by the mother during pregnancy so it can work both ways.

As for defect, possibly, although i may be more accurate to say "lazy design" like men having nipples. :p
