furthest you've driven in a day?

South of France (Vias) to Stamford, Lincs. 17 Hours straight. Bad idea.

Cost a fortune with fuel, crossings and tolls, should have gone Ryanair.

I frequently cover around 520miles over a 10 hour driving period, stopping for two 45-50minute breaks, this is the legal maximum driving time for an HGV driver, you are allowed two 10 hour drives per week, the remaining being maximums of 9 hours.

9 Hours rest and your good to go again... (in the eyes of the law!)

I'm having a pretty steady week thus far, I have only done 1048miles since 3AM tuesday.

Alnwick, Northumberland to Hartlebury, Worcestershire should be fun later this afternoon....

That's too far for an employer to expect you to drive.

Where's it from and where to? Can't you just get a plane? Or even a train?

Or the Megabus?

Around 1350 miles in 27 hours before.

Decided on an impromptu trip to the Nurburgring, so from Newcastle to there, we turned up and it was closed due to snow, so went for a bite to eat in Adenau and decided it wasn't going to open again any time soon and drove home. Ohh we popped into Billericay on the way there to see a friend too.

I've also done Newcastle to Paris and back in just over a day before, but the Nurburgring was a bit further.

Around 860 miles.

Shuttle runs during a house move. The distance between the houses being around 120 miles - first run was in a fully loaded transit hire van and a remaining 3 runs (back and forth) in my car.

Also while stopped myself and the mrs were either packing stuff into the vehicle or unloading it.

I do not remember it fondly! :(

958 miles

cornwall (portscatho) to Courchevel in the french alpes, wont say how long it took coz I might incriminate myself a tad, lush drive there 6 months later it was a depressing drive back!!

You gotta be joking me, right?

3 days of driving 2,600 miles (With accomodation each way) and then a ferry is cheaper than a flight and a hire car?!

You can rent a Fiesta or something from Hertz for 100 quid a week!?

How does it make sense to drive to Cyprus, its miles!

Having lived in Cyprus and been on holiday there, I can vouch for the cars being expensive and ****. ;)

I've done the drive with my Dad from Birmingham to Venice (via Lyon) in two days (apparently that's 1869km), then an overnight ferry to Patra, and then again from Athens to Limassol. took 5 days overall, with the last ferry taking the longest.

To be fair to Fox, however, driving to Cyprus is not better value than flying and renting, unless you want a Mercedes S-Class or something.

i've been asked to drive 280m and back in one day with about an hour or so stop over time to do a demo.
so thats 560 miles in one day! about 11hrs driving. its for work

seems OTT to me

what you think?

I think I've done similar when going on holiday but for work that is taking the mick. Tell them you want a stop over either before or after the demo depending on what best suits you.

Hull to Reading when I picked up my second Ducati 748...

240 odd miles on a superbike with a race seat, no padding... Oh yes, that was a painful day :(

Most easy ride I have done would be to Sheffield and back on a hire bike. So 200 miles each way, total of 400. Honda VFR 800... Was very easy to ride lon distance. But one hell of a boring bike! No pull in it what so ever!

Oh, the ride to Sheffield was a spur of the moment sort of thing, left at 10pm... Arrived around 12:30am... Motorways are FUN at night hehe. Not that I would ever speed, specially on a hire bike! It was bloody freezing though!

Wouldn't surprise me, I'm only 5'6-7" and I love the driving position of the Transit, and I used to do 20k a year or more in one.

It's strange as I'd have thought white van man would come in all shapes and sizes so the Transit would have to cater for that but it appears they only cover all shapes and sizes provided you're not much above 6' tall. Maybe I was missing something and there was some option that would have made it much more comfortable but I couldn't find anything obvious.

San Francsico to Las Vegas - it didn't look that far on the map.... :o I think it was a good 10hr drive :o

Only 1 way though and we swapped drivers. We went back to LA after a few das in LV.

I think it was nearly 600 miles one way to LV!!

I have done...

Midlands to Belgium in one evening
Amsterdam to Midlands in a day
Midlands to Le Mans in a day, back again 3 days later.

What's this thread about? The furthest goegraphical place you've travelled; or the overall number of miles covered from one place to another and return?

Anyway, I've done London to Bradford/Leeds which was 222 miles. I returned the same day so that totalled to 444 miles.

Strangely, I've done London to Manchester which is closer geographically, but further travelling wise, at 227 miles. I returned the same day so that totalled to 454 miles.

similar sort of stuff here, well over 1000 in a day when poutling down to the South of France for a week. Nice in the 530d as in France you'll easily cover 750 miles or so to brimmed tank.
