So last Monday (2nd Aug) my Dad took money for me to the bank (Ulster Bank) and lodged it as it was to pay a credit card HSBC. He used the Express pay service (I think it's called that) where he puts money in an envelope and posts it through the hole in the bank. He usually does this for me but goes to the Northern bank instead and there's never a problem. Well, the credit card was due to be paid by Friday and my I got a call 2 days ago from HSBC to say that the credit card wasn't paid and they slapped a late fee on my account so I contacted the Ulster Bank (where my dad made the payment) and they can't find any record of a payment or anything. I called my Dad today and he said that he through the receipt away.
The bank (where the lodgement was made) said that they can't do anything as they can't find. I said that there is bound to be a way that they could trace it and they said unfortunately not as they need the receipt.
Is there anything I can do? it's £100 and I haven't got that spare atm
