**** Original Starcraft 2 Thread ****

miffed just had a 9 loss streak, not able to win agame, last two games the other player started building protoss cannons in my base just as i built my first marine. How do I keep out their builders out? all they have to do is send one builder and start building cannons?

Almost as annoying as the guy who found me and warped in two refineries before I could block him out. The cannon trick works quite well though. Unless of course you are Terran and lift off all your buildings ;)

In which case your eco is trashed and you get beaten easily.

Gather your SCVs and attack the builder, as a mob they can kill things.

dunno, its great to play co-op with mates against stupid numbers of AIs, just realised there is nothing you can do against 14 carriers! :D

Played and won 6 games in a row and got to about 7th in my league. Decided I was on a roll, carried on and lost 5 games in a row >.< Keep getting boned by reaper harassment

I think I need to quit the practise league. The rocks on every map make early attacks useless. Then it just turns into a battle of numbers.

You do. I now know i learnt nothing in the practice league other than what buildings are required for which units (i also figured out how warping worked with 'toss). After that i should have moved straight onto my placement matches as the maps and game speed made me very lazy.

As 'toss i build probes until i hit 9 units (as soon as the 9th spawn i send him to scout), then build a pylon, then three more drones, then i build a barracks, when i hit 100 resources i then chuck down a pylon (if you got your timing right this pylon should finish at exactly the same time as the barracks). I then create a wall of 4/5 zealots with a pylon to help shield charge on my entrance ramp to deter rush.

Dependant on what the scout finds i will determine my tactics from there. If they're going with largely ground forces i'll whack down one more barracks and two robotics facilities and churn out immortals which i'll then upgrade with the 'only take 10 damage' ability (forget what it's called) and stalkers with the blink ability to surround enemies if they retreat from a skirmish. If it's a mix i'll build 3 more barracks and upgrade them to warp gates then spam stalkers and work on teching up to warp rays. If they're mostly air it's again spam stalkers but this time also build a couple of zealots who will focus on destroying buildings while my stalkers engage flying units, if possible i'll also try to build some carriers but they're mega expensive.

I always have one or two of those things that can generate shields, especially against zerg and terran as in the long run they mitigate a LOT of damage. I ALWAYS have drones building, i generally tend to expand to a second base when the time feels 'right'.

I'm a noob though so if anyone sees any flaws in my plans feel free to criticise.

Generate Shields? Protoss have shields but nothing "Generates Shields in SC2"
They have the forge which allows you to create cannons and allows you research upgrades your attack, armor and shields... Is that what you mean?

If your refering to Pylons as the shield charges. Pylons do 3 things, 1) provide supply; 2) Provide an area in which you can warp in buildings (using a probe) or units (using a warpgate); 3) provide power to your buildings

Also you have gateways not barracks ;)
