How did life come about?
HIV came from SIV, and in Africa. There are various groups of HIV (MNO, maybe P) that vary slightly in their transmission event (Sooty mangabeys/Chimps/Gorillas). It is thought that the first transmission to humans was in the 1900-1940s - so HIV is a very young virus.
Nevertheless, it probably jumped species due to the preparation/consumption of bushmeat (similar to how Kuru spreads etc). This is called the Hunter theory if you want to search for it.

There's also a sinister theory that the United States government engineered SIV to work on humans in the seventies so they could eradicate the growing black community. I don't believe it but you would be alarmed at how many people do, or simply express that they wouldn't be surprised. I suppose even I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to pull it off.

She should be jailed and made to pay compensation to anyone infected by her selfishness.
Surely the more people that get HIV, the more chance there is of getting a cure because it is needed more if anything???
not that I am saying that is a good idea.
Or perhaps it makes sense to do what we can for those that are infected and punish those that have sex with people without letting them know they have HIV.

You have to ask yourself why it spreads so much in Africa = thick uneducated people and religious beliefs
I do actually staunchly blame the pope on HIV epidemics in Africa, because he condemns the use of contraceptives. There's a sizeable Christian element in Africa particularly in the poorer and under-developed regions. I would have course like to point out that the pope's not the sole factor, but what he preaches is not helpful at all!
Agreed, i also hold him partly responsible for overpopulation in these sorts of areas too.
You have to blame a lot on it to sexual views as well.

He's probably talking in the sense that couples who are faithful to each other have a lot of children (hence the overpopulation part) which is encouraged by the teachings of Christianity & exacerbated by the lack of contraceptives.
Discouragement of use of contraception = greater risk of unwanted pregnancy = larger families
In poorer areas such as those described by Knives above this contributes to overpopulation.

Sorry was meant to quote you, where you said you blame him for HIV.
But again even for over population. He teaches sex is for procreation not pleasure.
You can't focus on one thing he says. You have to focus it on everything he says.
These people can't say I wont wear protection due to what the pope says. then go and break everything else he says.
