Call of Duty: Black Ops

I agree on the above, and from memory I thought Treyarch have said there is a barebones playlist coming with the game to cater for such things?

Yup

What happened to just getting a range of guns and some grenades and killing people with skill not perks and adds and REMOTE CONTROL CARS

I wouldn't say realism is a defining aspect of this genre :p

Games like Counter-strike (considered to be one of the purest predecessors to CoD) can actually be seen as less realistic.

Am looking forward to this. More COD is defiantely welcome. The singleplayer looks like fun and I'm sure the multiplayer will be worth a dabble. Not paying £130 though, will get the vanilla edition. Hopefully all the supermarkets will be trying to out do each other again on release :)

I do love the competition from the supermarkets these days. Fifa 10 for £25, MW2 for £25.

I hope it's replicated this year with Fifa 11 and Black Ops.

That's what hardcore search and destory is for

If they were going for realism every single game would be like that and you wouldn't even get a second round. I just think it's silly somebody is moaning about a lack of realism when COD are basically arcade games.

Imagine how funny it would be to get booted from the game back to the lobby and never be able to play online again because you died.

Less realistic or not, it sure as hell plays better. I reckon they should add css-like recoil to CoD, make it actually require some skill to do well :D I prefer being **** at css than being good at CoD to be honest.

It wont be long now till they ditch the guns altogether and you just ride around the maps on the back of flying unicorns, that shoot laser beams (computer controlled of course) out of their eyes while they vomit up deadly waves of ninja stars.

The only gun they'll keep will be a noob tube dispenser that fires 100 rounds a minute and self replenishes its ammo.

I reckon that will be the case about 2 cod down the line.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Activision filed trademarks for Call of Duty: Space Warfare, Future Warfare and Secret Warfare some time ago. I am not even kidding.

They are also looking at pay2play models for those games too.

Well I guess its probably best to kill it :D someone really needs to step up and take the baton. I will get black ops and enjoy but I really want the solid core stuff with out the novelty stuff. Bare bones helps but the emphasis on a quality core needs to run through the whole spectrum of the game not just a playlist.

I remember dice once saying about bc2 that the killing experience has to be enjoyable and the dieing experience has to feel fair and just.

Take for instance random pro pipe. Not massively satisfying to deliver one and very frustrating to receive one. Therefore a poor choice and should be completely got rid of. In taking them away you'd have more people actually firing their guns and getting in to more fire fights.

All computer controlled stuff should also be out too. IMO.

I guess I just miss fire fights now in cod. :(

There's an amazing multiplayer map in the original CoD on PC where it was just basically trench warfare and players taking pot shots at each other with their rifles from each side of the field. Now that I think of it, a lot of the maps were like that. They were basically battles of attrition and you really had to watch where you were moving, and make every single shot count. None of this running around like headless chickens nonsense.

Oh come on, I said it was getting less and less realistic. I have been playing CoD since the first one on the PC, only one I didn't play was CoD3, it used to be about shooting better than the other guy now we have remote control cars running around and exploding crossbows. You can pick apart my argument if you like but anyone with half a brain cell knows I wasn't referring to the game being real world realistic, simply that with all these damn killstreaks are getting more and more over the top it takes away from the shooting.

Although I did say realism was never a central point of this kind of game, I still totally agree with you. CoD got much worse over time after 2.
