Let's hear it for Ryanair

All these people saying they think there is nothing wrong with them have gone mad. Yes they are a budget airline but when a man is denied his request for a glass of tap water on a flight, however cheap the flight may be is just wrong to me, he had no money on him. Surely they can up all flights by 20p to cover the cost of this.
Where's this tap water come from? It's a plane.

The water systems on planes don't currently have to be of any specific standard, so it's never usually advisable to drink it - hence it usually says something to that effect in the toilets.

I strikes me looking at this thread that people deliberately like to hate on Ryanair just for the sake of it. Especially those who have never even flown with them.

Yea the staff are miserable / rude don't want to be there but you are paying CHEAP fares. Just get on the plane; ignore the staff; watch a movie; get off the plane; enjoy your trip.

Why complain? You get what you pay for. If you want good service and more comfortable seats then fly a premium airline like BA.

The people that complain are the people that don't read the T&C's or don't understand Ryanair's business model.

They rip you off if you take luggage. This I don't like but I accept that this is how they make money.

Planes are reliable, a good young fleet.

You get what you pay for. You pay for no-frills, expect no-frills with crap service to boot.

Indeed. Hence why I never fly with them :p In fact in 6 years of flying 30+ return flights a year I think I've flown with them once - that was enough to put me off for life! :D

Can't stand no frills airlines I must admit.

IMO they can make flight even cheaper by not having staff on the plane at all pushing the damn carts with expensive crap around, why not just put a vending machine on the plane.

The thing that winds me up the most about ryan air and other budget airlines, is the fact they don't assign seat numbers on tickets. Which means if you've go no chance to sit next to someone you're travelling with unless you shove and push in the queues on boarding.

I imagine the only reason this is done is to encourage people to by priority boarding, but it just makes the whole experience so much more unpleasant.

The tap, I guess? They have taps in airports, and bottles/containers on planes.
They have water onboard for toilets etc - which may not be drinkable.

They could take alternate containers of tap water as you suggest - but some of the countries they fly to have tap water that is still unsafe to drink. So they'd have to watch where they were filling it.

Sounds like to have a supply of drinkable tapwater on board would be yet another cost that they've decided isn't worth paying - especially when you can sell bottled water for a few quid a go.

Whenever I've flown budget airlines, I've never paid for priority boarding and have always managed to sit with the people I'm traveling with.

There's always the common courtesy off asking passengers to switch seats if you have children or such, but then that's also the reason they allow children to board first, so families can sit down.

Obviously it all adds up to near enough the price of a premium airline if you start taking all the options and luggage etc... If you take just onboard luggage, your own food & drink, entertainment to keep your mind focused elsewhere on the flight, then it can be an absolute steal! I reiterate again that I had a holiday to Barcelona, return for £18!

The only time I had a ticket with them the flight was cancelled due to those morons with that tried to blow up the planes.

Try to avoid where possible, managed ok so far :)

Best 'cheap' flight experience was Lufthansa last year, I found them excellent but not as cheap as Ryanair, Easyjet et al unless you were taking luggage in which case they were cheaper.

I flew to italy on Ryanair and I had no complaints. Yes I fell asleep the whole way there but if you want better service use someone like BA.

Ryanair should be treated and a bus/coach trip.

No friends?
Did you ask the passenger sitting next to you to lend you some?
Have you learned from your mistake?

None of us had any money on us - A friend that was out there already told us to change our money over there as he'd found a place with some good rates, so all any of us had on us were cards. I have learned from it though, and always make sure I've got a bit of spare change on flights now. Regardless though, thats not the issue. While I understand it is a budget airline and I don't expect a service with any frills, going without a drink on a 3-4 hour flight is pretty ridiculous. While its my fault in many ways, it just goes a long way to showing the level of service they provide.

YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.

So don't whinge when it's **** because you couldn't afford better/ didn't want to spend more.

They've been fine in my experience though I have to say. But I never eat plane food and usually bring my own supplies with me.

Presumably no liquids though? Or do you pay BAA's extortionate charges for a bottle of water?

Any airline that refuses to provide water for its customers should expect those fare paying customers to treat the cabin like a cattle truck :(
